InactiveThis happened to me too, a few months back.
Here’s what I figured out at the time.
Western Union subscribes to a service called Cyveillance. Cyveillance is a bot that searches the web for trademarked words and phrases, or whatever Western Union (or whomever) wants it to search for. When the bot finds a match, something happens — e.g. Cyveillance might send a report to WU, and then WU sends the warning letter out, or it might be set up so that Cyveillance takes care of everything.
Exactly how it works, I’m not sure…. What I do know, is that blocking the Cyveillance spider might prevent this from happening again. I don’t know what the IP range is for Cyveillance, but I’m sure you could find it by doing a quick G search.

InactiveThey sent me the same email on January,3, 2007. I thought it was a joke, but remembered about their policy told me by GPWA members. Finally I removed a mention about them from my site.

InactiveMost sites that use them refer to “Money Transfer”, and I’ve started doing the same myself.
BTW, think they’ll find this thread as well?

InactiveI had the same problem happen to me a while back. I had traded links with a CAP member who had the words western union in a description. We must have traded links for at least 50 sites.
I had my links guys go and edit the descriptions but talk about a pain in the ass. I’ve only used Western Union once before but I will make certain to never do it again.

InactiveWhat’s really strange is that my site was approved as an affiliate for WU, and I can legally post their banners on my site!
They had to manually approve it.

InactiveStrikes me as hypocritical that they still allow their product to be used, and hence earn revenue, however they don’t want to be publicly associated with it.

lol, now I understand what this mean  because I was confused when I saw “Money Transfer” as a withdrawal method, because I didn’t know it.

InactiveBut surely this is an unenforcable request by W.U.
If paypalsucks.com can stay online, then im sure just saying a fact in a website about W.U is allowed.
I guess i will get an email sooner or later then, i will tell them to xxxx off.
