InactiveGreat announcement … a real piece of clear and concise thinking.
It works on so many levels as you said on the video.
(1) It pulls in a major group that no politician can ignore …
(2) It potentially solves a major funding issue is one fell swoop …
I’m assuming that the revenue taxes stack up well against expected costs(3) Lovely use of precedence … case law is the foundation of US justice
(4) The end slogan also sticks it to the vested vegas industries …
But that will be the biggest threat to open gaming …All-in-all a great announcement …. anmd notice I haven’t said what it is either !!!
:wink-winkIf you want to find out about the BIGGGGGGG NEWS – then watch the video !!
:cheers:Well done JT.

InactiveThis sounds great. But I am stupider than the average person so I need this explained like I am retarded.
So the veterans group is opposed to the gambling bill because it goes against what they fought for. I think I understand that part, I am just confused on how the veterans group represents all veterans and on how they will help the fight.
Again please explain pretending that I am five.

InactiveThank you all so much for the enthusiasm! :clapper:
Now, please allow me to explain this more in-depth for you…
1) The Veterans have nothing to do with online gaming and hold no official position. Some of them play, some of them don’t… just like the rest of us.
2) Veterans Health Care, and other benefits, have been lacking for years. They identified online gaming as a potential revenue stream in a charitable gaming model.
3) The communications and marketing arm of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Called the VFW Web Com) and the APCW have partnered to try to capture the now abandoned US Gaming Market’s revenue for Veterans Services. Our job is to educate the members, answer questions, help in the legislative process, grow our membership, and (eventually) help choose how the whole system is set up from software to affiliate program.
4) The VFW has over 2.4 million members who need additional funds for services that the US Federal Government does not pay. In fact, their funding will be cut even more within the next 2 years. The VFW Webcom network connects all the Vet’s together with emails, message boards, blogs, and over 8,000 websites to discuss the strategy.
5) Discussion is where we are now. There has been little negative feedback privately when online charitable gaming has been discussed. Once the “higher ups” approve the model, we write legislation.
6) Now the fun begins, because once the VFW goes forward with this the American Legion will follow, as well as ofther Veterans Service Organizations like the Disabled Vets, Vietnam Veterens, and Purple Heart Association. That would bring the numbers to around 6,000,000 represented Americans.
7) With that kind of representation all over the country, no congressman will dare to not take our calls or welcome us to their office. We give them a choice to pay for the Veterans Services or find another model to do the job… If they don’t want to help, then the thousands of Veterans in their districts will not be happy.
I hope this expains the strategy, and shows that this process will take long hours and hard work… but it’s totally winnable.

InactiveI couldn’t think of a better group I would like to have in our corner than those very same people who fight for our liberties and put their lives on the line to keep our country free. I am quite sure they have earned the right to play a $5 poker game in their own house instead of letting some idiot that doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground telling him its against the law. Their voice should definitely give our cause some much needed clout, and I couldn’t imagine a better group to benefit from regulating our industry. I have always thought our country is not even in the game when it comes to taking care of our veterans. We have billions to donate to the whole world, yet we can’t find the money to get our homeless veterans off the street and provide them the proper healthcare they need, and their the ones who risked it all. they deserve it!!!
I think it is important to show these idiots opposing online gambling who think our industry consists of nothing but fraud, terrorists, and money laundering–that our industry can do alot of good, even pick up the slack where the hipocritical government falls short like pitching in to get our veterans food, shelter and healthcare. If there was a specific fund set up where people from our industry could easily make a donation to this veterans group, I think it would go a long way. Point being if the industry really came together, what a deed to have under our belt, raised $500K for the veterans, maybe $1 Mil, maybe only $100K, who knows but we need some positives associated with our industry anyway. And it’s something I would like to do anyway, aside from the inherited benefit it would have for our industry. I wouldn’t mind donating a small portion every month, regardless of the outcome of this collaboration. Just a thought, but at any rate its a brilliant collaboration, and perhaps our voices will be heard and taken seriously now.
