Language changes all the time.

Web site is correct, but common usage is website.

Being on the internet, I would say common usage rules as it is what people input in searches.

Dominique is right … website is the common usage … and looks much better in copy as well.

There’s nothing incorrect about “website”. It’s a relatively new expression because of a relatively new technology. AND it’s the most common usage. (Being a new word does not make a word incorrect.)

(“Homepage” and “online” are also both new words that were originally two words. “Email” is short for electronic mail and was originally “e-mail”.)
