Mint: A Fresh Look at your Site is a cheerful little script.. cheap too.. works great.

I dont think google anal-ytics is much good either. I dont think it tracks all hits, it is not in real time, I cant find where u block your own IP.. if that is possible.

I looked into analytics a while back and always meant to have a look at this Open Web Analytics but never got round to it.. It seemed the best one out there in comparrison to GA from what I could gather.

You can block your own ip-adress in GA. Just go to the section above in the right ‘Manage’ and make a filter. Here you can setup all kind of IP exclusions.

To add to that, you might want to block your tech teams as well if you outsource

I’m using Piwik on some of my sites. You can block your IP and is great alternative if you don’t want your data to be collected by GA even if it’s tough to set it up correctly

Why give Google so much information about your site?

Call me paranoid but why give any 3’rd parties access to this data?

Is there a php script (sold or gpl) I can install on my server to provide similar stats as GA or Piwik?

For instance, the GPWA is using MozScape (by seomoz) to track the stats etc of all their member sites.

Seomoz collects data like GA but makes this available to competitors at a price.

While I don’t know for sure but seeing the GPWA doesn’t have an issue selling its members out for a buck, my guess is the only reason they’re using MozScape (powered by seomoz), they’ve done a deal and are likely getting a financial kick backs for this data. Milking their members for what they can get.

Sadly this is a such a typical GPWA thing to do; selling members out for a buck!

Why don’t you use Piwik? Piwik is installed on your own server so nobody else can access your data.

I use Piwik for sites I don’t want Google to track. I have multiple installations on different servers and it always works fine for me.
