I wish someone would hire me as an affiliate manager – I would do an amazing job IMO b/c I love helping people and I am online alot, not to mention I know poker and poker affiliating inside out.

LadyHoldem….what I would love is an affiliate manager to step up to the plate and sell their sizzle here and show us why we should promote their poker room over everybody elses. If you look through the threads you will often see a reply that ….its being taken care of”, and a couple of months later there haven’t been any changes.

Dom…I know ppl aren’t going to stop promoting a site that is making them money….that would be silly of them. What I’m thinking is that they will also promote site X, who has the affiliates best interests in mind, so by promoting site X the affiliate will benefit too.

I think money talks…and if the poker sites, see how much traffic we really send to them, they may re-evalute our relationship and stop taking us for granted and make the terms fair.

IE pay us for tournament fees. Would you promote a casino if they gave you 30% of their profits from all games except blackjack? Tournaments are the main reason for poker’s popularity right now.

Yes there are a number of excellent AMs who work with us and reply immediately and deal with our concerns (you know who you are), but often times our concerns go unanswered, and the longer we let it go the worse it will become.

by the way , the reason this idea won’t work… although I love the idea of taking a stand against the BS…. is because all the major players are not on CPA nor revshare. They are on seperate contracts with the details only they know. If you think pokerlistings is on cpa or rev share your crazy

LOL. I’m sure you would. However what ppl need to remember is that “affiliates” have more of a “necessary evil” badge to a lot of people. And for every good affiliate there are 10 more churning out useless spammy websites with out-of-date, often misleading information and directions to bad apples in the hope of a “quick buck” and these people probably a) won’t be interested and b) won’t be taken seriously if they were. In fact are more of a hindrance than a help IMO.

Then you’ve got all this turmoil with affiliates on one forum slagging off affiliates in another forum going on. I’ve seen at least four gambling-based forums like this recently. Affiliates airing their dirty linen in public can seriously undermine any attempt at creating impressions of unity and professionalism.

That said, well run forums like CAP can help bring some unity and make decisions that can influence not only affiliates, but the businesses they represent in a more professional manner.

Screaming, shouting and threatening don’t help our cause. Solidarity and well-planned tactical manoeuvres do. The Profs PP Accreditation removal is exactly the sort of professional move that gets noticed and kudos to him for that. Last year, the community joined together to rebuff the moves by some affiliate programs and got the point over in a professional yet serious enough manner.

As someone said earlier, the best you can do is vote with your feet and post professionally stating the fact and the reasons for the action IMO.

    Cheers

    Simmo!
