I was just thinking, but isn’t it, also of course the domain name means alot to, but isn’t it also the product ect i mean when you think about it what does google mean anyway? its what they made in reality you could call your site anything if it has a good product it wins over.

Any single word .com is a million anymore. Hell Fish.com sold for over a mill..

Issue was way back when a domain name was about 1200 a year, a giant pain in the ass to get and most of us were working for beer money back then.

google.com wouldnt be worth much if you bought it then. Nothing against you but its not the name that made a few billion :)

You midas well buy Zungwat.com (hope thats not a real name) or somthing and have the same value as google.com would be today.

I would buy so many domain names it not even funny… I would get stuff ranging from NBA.com to Play at the Best Online Casino | $/£/ to Jobs.com: Search Job Opportunities. Find Local Job Openings & Listings. Dammit!

Hi no I totally agree thats why in second post i said it has to do alot with the product now days, of course the other post Jobs.com: Search Job Opportunities. Find Local Job Openings & Listings probably Pizza.com – Order Pizza Online, Pizza Coupons, Find Pizzerias would be another great one.

these days its all about content though isn’t it i agree and the product

This is right on, Rak. I daydream about this, too from time to time.

Have you ever seen the movie “Hot Tub Time Machine”? It totally sounds like the most cheesey movie… kind of is… but it is funny. Any way, that what this group of guys do… and one of them comes back as the creator of Google. HA!

I’d rather go into the future and know what will happen. Like in Back to the Future. I’d get all the sports scores and everything else I could get my hands on, Come back and know the outcome of everything that will happen.

Who to bet on, which stocks to buy, where to be to avoid major world issues, etc etc etc

Even if you could go back… you’d have to be quick. It really didn’t take domain name squatters any time as I recall.

Imagine how hard it will be to get a username on places like twitter, facebook in 5 years.

    Already its becoming quite difficult.

The 13 year anniversary for one of my domains is coming up.
And a 10 year one for my personal email domain.

    Time is cracking on.
