InactiveHey J Todd,
Thank you for posting this form letter. Everyone needs to send one out asap.
Guess who I am represented by?
Answer: You are in Virginia’s 9th district and are represented by The Honorable Rick Boucher. Boucher is one of the backers of this bill. Ouch!March 5, 2006 at 3:40 am #685370Anonymous
InactiveDone!
Captain – I just left the Boucher region, now have Forbes, 4th district.

InactiveI don’t know if it would be worth it for affiliates from Florida to write to Jeb Bush. We are one of the two hold-out states with illegal gambling. I could imagine that Bush would just ignore such letters – not relevant to him IHO.
We can’t even do any local advertising – end up in the slammer!

Thats why it is especially important to write!
Every one letter a politician gets is assumed to have at least 200 voters behind it who don’t write.
Every letter counts for 200. Write!

InactiveDominique wrote:Every one letter a politician gets is assumed to have at least 200 voters behind it who don’t write…YES, exactly… it’s assumed to be worth at least 200 votes… maybe more…
Also, if you know of any other forums on gambling where webmasters or players go, get a post there and a form letter. Make up your own if you don’t like mine… tone it down… tone it up… just get them out there!

InactivePhone calls, faxes, and emails in support of or in opposition to any bills are logged and taken seriously by all elected officials at that level. If you don’t want to write, then any of those other forms of contact are a good idea. Deciding whether or not to contact your representative should be a reflection of how strongly you feel about the issue, not a reflection of whether or not you think their mind is already made up.

InactiveOther than publicising this on our sites, what can we Non US Citizens do, to fight this bill?

…or just to “Cash” and they’ll work it out on their own.

InactiveQuote:`(9) The term `information assisting in the placing of bets or wagers’ means information knowingly transmitted by an individual in a gambling business for use in placing, receiving, making, or otherwise enabling or facilitating a bet or wager and does not include—(
advertising relating to betting or wagering in a jurisdiction where such betting or wagering is legal, as long as such advertising does not solicit or provide information for the purpose of facilitating or enabling the placing or receipt of bets or wagers in a jurisdiction where such betting is illegal. So since I live in Las Vegas, where gambling is legal (THANK YOU BABY), I am allowed to have advertisements.
How does one prove who my intended audience is if I don’t address anyone specifically? I would love to see that one play out in a court of law.
