    Hi all,

some of you already know about it, but I thought I’d give you all a brief heads up on Virgin Games V*Points loyalty program:

Whether they win or lose, every single player you send to Virgin Games earns V*Points, and are able to exchange these points for lots of Virgin extras.

Virgin Games has been round their Virgin sister companies and raided the cupboards. There are Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles, Virgin Vouchers that can be spent on a variety of things from mobile top-ups to digital downloads, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

A few interesting facts about V*points at Virgin Casino:

    44,528,073 V*Points have been earned
    34,229,098 V*Points have been redeemed
3,771,177 Flying Club Miles have been redeemed or given away

    • That’s almost 2 trips to space on Virgin Galactic (2 million miles required for a Virgin Galactic trip to space)
    • It’s also roughly 135 times around the world
    • It’s also roughly 8 trips to the moon and back or 16 one way trips to send the things in life you don’t want any more

445,280 V*Points have been given away
£306,818 in cash has been redeemed from V*Points

Any plans on introducing these points to the affiliate program, I think that would give you an edge and an extra incentive to affiliates.

    Hi Antoine,

This has been on the back burner for a while. When drafting specs for our in-house affiliate software back in 2006, this was one of the features I wanted to have right from the start. Unfortunately due to limited development resources available at the time (as is often the case), we had to prioritize and drop a few of the cool stuff we wanted to offer at launch – this and our sub-affiliate system included.

We are using V*Points as prizes for our various affiliate competitions and gifts right now, but the process is quite manual and I’d like this fully automated as originally intended.

Virgin Games is going through a major operational transformation right now (more on this later, but that’s all good news :)) so we can’t roll out some of the affiliate features as quickly as we wish, but that will be made available in 2009.

    Cheers,

Great to hear about all the developments there. I’ve sent very little traffic your way (my UK traffic is light compared to my USA traffic) but I have been very impressed with the results so far. Obviously you are doing something right. I think the Vpoints are probably a strong selling factor with players.

    Cheers Antoine,

Players like being given the choice. Value aside – even if many of them will end up redeeming their V*Points as cash, allowing players to split their loyalty earnings make our scheme quite unique and attractive. Some players redeem a portion of their V*Points as cash, another portion as Flying Club Miles, and maybe spare their remaining points for charity donations (also available as a redeeming option).

The feedback we get from our players is that V*Points – through our varied and unique redeeming options – is more enpowering than many other loyalty schemes.

Watch this space and our newsletter for news on V*Points for affiliates. It’s too early to tell when in 2009 this will happen, but the software mechanics have been drafted long ago, so integration shouldnt be too difficult :)
