vladcizsolMemberGood try anyway and keep after them. Personally I think our best bet is a “tax on purchase” plan with funds going to the state and federal government. If we could make the case of how much this could raise in federal and state funds then we might be able to get a few legislators behind us.
Lets say that the industry as a whole generates $12 billion dollars in the US in deposits each year….
$12,000,000,000.00
6 percent Federal tax on deposits = $720 Million
6 percent State tax on deposits = $720 MillionTotal revenue generated annualy = $1.4 Billion
Set backs
10% Problem Gambling fund = $140 Million
25% to Education = $ 350 MillionRemainder used at governments discretion = $990,000,000

InactiveLou,
The plan we have is even more generous than that to the government and VFW while still providing a huge payment to software providers. But as we know, just because something makes total sense doesn’t mean those in charge will approve.
It is discouraging that the VFW Leadership has elected to slow down on this, and I won’t lie that I am very discouraged. But this is not a dead issue:
The VFW membership and leadership is still considering this, but they have changed their agenda: They do not want it in the public eye any longer for whatever reason. They want to keep the discussion “in house” until they make the decision public… one way or another.
I’m gonna go have a drink now… :shots:

I’m tempted to say this is exactly the kind of thinking that has gotten the vfw where it is today.
somebody comes up with a serious answer to some very hard questions … and they want to think about it.
I’m sorry, ….. though i understand their not wanting to affiiate with just anybody ….. at the same time enough time has been spent foolishly and still no answers.
freaking stinks!
I gurantee you every veteran facing some kind of need of medical help is for this! But their own damn reps are selling them out because of obvious political pressure. Shame on them!
