InactiveNot stupid!
I posted something very similar in the PartyPoker Affiliates area.
Even though PartyPoker will not admit this….IF somebody uses your link BUT DOES NOT use your PP Bonus code, you will NOT get credit for that player. I have now done eight individual tests with all variations of player 1 uses link, but does not use code
player 2 uses code, but does not use link etc. etc.Maybe its a browser issue, but I could not find one case where the link mattered at all–everything was tracked to the Bonus code only.

InactiveSame thing happens on many sites, where your user clicks your banner, then fills in the dang refer a friend name..
Even I’m guilty, before I knew about this.. I just plain wouldn’t sign up till I knew someone I could say referred me.. I want to give SOMEONE credit afterall.. didn’t know I was ripping off the affiliate..
I am being paid back for this LOL, Several of my forum members, put my name in the referred by box.. Which now takes them out of my affilate line, and puts them in my referred friends.. soooo I get 50 bux if they deposit..

InactiveThis is very disturbing.
Also, I tend to avoid advertising anyone who has a big “refer a friend” campaign. It isn’t always possible to avoid, but in my choice of places to promote, such a campaign is a big strike against the property.

InactiveAs an affiliate where poker isn’t a big part of my income, this is an easy decision…
Let’s see, first you have the reported blackjack bug that is ripping off players. Add the fact that there is possibly an issue with bonus codes undoing your affiliate link. Also the fact that noone from this program ever stops here to answer our questions.
Looks like it’s time to remove those two links I still have up for this program.

InactiveWhen I was still promoting PP, I contacted my manager privately to let him know of this..”I can assure you blah blah blah..” was all I could get from him.
Well I can ASSURE ALL OF YOU that I would be vary wary of PP recording.
Another test I ran was I had a friend download using my aff link and use my Bonus Code (I was given credit) I then had him download using my aff link and use a different persons code (other person was given credit for this same player which I had already referred).
I then had this same friend sign up using my aff link, but without using ANY bonus code (and neither myself nor the other affiliate were given credit)
Players are not tracked for life there, affiliate tags do not matter and you BETTER HOPE that after doing all that work to get a new player to click thru to PP using your link they ALSO use your Bonus Code EACH TIME they make a deposit.
I would encourage you to all run your own tests to verify my information, but I think you’ll find very similar results.
I am not an idiot and when I contact a program like PP with my concerns and evidence, as well as suggestions to help them improve I EXPECT them to get right on it and take these concers as seriously as I do. (Thats also the reason I dropped Casino rewards–irrelevant stats, not taking the issue as seriously as I do, although I believe their –CR’s–reputation is solid. PP, on the other hand, I personally do not trust from the affiliate side)
Good riddance–I’m surprised their even accredited here at CAP.

InactiveCynically I’d say that this “system” of attributing referrals has been adopted to maximise their percentage of orphan signups – that is to say customers signed up that belong to no affiliate.
Nearly all links to their site would be affiliate coded … and this mechanism gets around that completely. Why do they need a bonus code to apply a bonus? They don’t. They know when they get a new customer.
It’s simply a mechanism to try and orphan customers from the referring affiliate …
:stirpot:
As a practising cynic of many years … consider this additional scenario …You’ve signed up a whale … after a month or two the casino recognises them and sends the whale a “special bonus” with THEIR code …
Now what do you think will happen to the customer? You should already know the answer – you’ve seen the proof at the signup stage.
I’ll go nowhere near this crowd with my promotions ….

InactivePrecisely,
That is what I said to my aff manager…”He assured me that everything was being tracked..blah, blah….”
New players (depositors) must complete two steps 1) Use your aff-tagged link 2) Use your Bonus Code (Unless they can somehow use your code without your link, as in my tests–but that was between people I knew)

InactiveSo for Party Poker i need to have the tracking URL and a Bonus code? could partly explain why i’ve not had a single sign up with them!

InactiveThis doesn’t seem correct to me. I have never promoted a bonus code, only a link and have had players sign up successfully under my affiliate account. However, I have noticed that since the middle of last year (not sure exactly when), my referrals dropped dramatically to PP. My traffic is still low, but has been building since last year, so this seems a bit concerning.

InactiveOk, now that does it for me.
They are coming down next update.
Geeez!

GuestI recently did a test and no sign up showed in my stats. This after I had been threatened to have my account deleted despite the fact I make a steady income with them each month but because I hadn’t sent any new players in a couple months.
Then I found out why.
ya I’m finally going to take the hint and take them down.
They started out okay but soon fell back to IMHO their old ways before PP was around. Back then I wouldn’t touch any of their casinos because I’d caught them not reporting accurately. Funny how when stats aren’t accurate they never are wrong in favor of the aff isn’t it?

InactiveYeah–bb1–that’s why I attempted to respond to your previous thread about this from a long, long time ago…. but THE PROF don’t like people with Yahoo email addresses

SO..in order to get myself regged with CAP I am now using a domain name that I owned–I also do not use the emails asscoiated with my websites (long story) so I had to find an unused domain I had and re-direct the email to my Yahoo address (I went through all that trouble simply because I love this forum and thought I could provide useful feedback to many of the members’ posts.)
Hopefully my comments about PP here will alert those of you who are promoting them.
I find it very hard to believe that any of you are being given credit for players without them using your Bonus Code (above poster must have it on their website near where the people sign up)
