Yes.. it appears to be in the works.
The casinos are suddenly filing lawsuits against anyone and everyone who may take traffic away from them once they get online.
I have a site named Vegas Station Casino. On Monday, Station Casinos Inc. in Las Vegas, NV filed a lawsuit against me for Cybersquatting and Trademark Infringement. It had been online for 6-1/2 years. GoDaddy disabled the site in the blink of an eye.
Wow, I wouldn’t take that lying down ! That is hardly Trademark Infringement…..I think given the longevity of the site, you would win that case hands down…..most of these letters sent out are used as scare tactics only. I would sue Godaddy over this abrupt termination of service,,,,,seriously, this doesn’t speak well for them as a domain registrant.
It wasn’t just a letter that was sent.. they filed a lawsuit.. an actual complaint in District Court. I received a copy of the 16 page complaint.. plus another 16 page plaintiff’s motion for restraining order and preliminary injunction.
I really can’t afford to get into a legal battle with these guys. I used to work in a law office and I know the kinds of games they play.
They have more money than God and will file so many motions and other BS that the average person would go broke paying an attorney to file the necessary paperwork to answer all their motions and other stuff they dream up.
They also filed against GoDaddy.. which is why the site was disabled so quickly.
I agree though.. GD should have at least waited for an injunction to be granted.

You have no chance, unless you are a lawyer yourself.
I defended myself pro se in a case ( big monied company against little old me ) after a lawyer wanted $5,000 just for a retainer.I estimate the company spent at least $100,000 on lawyers for themselves
I am no lawyer but at least I could respond to the complaint and some added tricks on their part.In the end I was .. up a creek!

Hmmm…yes, that could be a problem. Have you considered taking this to a pro-online-gambling legal body or one of the pro-online-gambling advocacy groups ? Perhaps, due to the nature of this and the publicity it might generate, they would defend you pro-bono ?? I just think that 6.5 years of domain ownership gives you a certain amount of rights here, and disqualifies you from any sort of cybersquatting statutes.

It is already generating some buzz. It was in the Las Vegas newspaper.
LasVegasLady, unfortunately, I do not, but my thoughts are that there may be some around who might do it for free, in that it could provide them with some case recognition in the process. Mr. Rose, who is based in somewhere in Florida, is a name that comes to mind (I forget his first name). He was extremely active with his thoughts and commentary, when UIGEA was first passed. But, I do not know anyone personally. I would create threads on a multitude of boards, and ask readers for names. You are bound to get a couple of contacts. Good luck, and remain strong !
