InactiveI have finally changed all old links to the new ones.
Hundreds of links.I hope they’ll have their new version fixed soon.
They at least could send out emails and tell affiliates what is going on.

InactiveTherefore I spent two months to reconstruct my site with new scripts that not to change hundreds of links, now I can change them in a one place and all links will be updated automatically. I’m too lazy to change links manually :hehe:

Nice going, aksana! This is exactly how my sites work, too.June 7, 2007 at 12:46 pm #739031Anonymous
InactiveIt looks like it’s in with the old and out with the new. We all knew there was problems when the stats weren’t working for a month.
Personally, I’m just happy they’re getting it fixed and stats seem to be almost back on track. I heard April payments were getting close to the pipe-line. If we get payments and it’s working… I don’t care which version it is.

But if you want to know what is performing best on your site and have implemented campaigns then you’re back at changing thousands of links – either in the backend or frontend.

You should change them to the old links. I understand that it’s very difficult but you need because they stopped using the new stats. Regarding April commissions I don’t have news, Today I’ve asked them where April commissions, but still no answers.June 12, 2007 at 1:51 pm #739397Anonymous
InactiveI wrote them last week but have no reply yet.
Why the old links again?I think they have problems with their new version but will rather keep the new version.

I can sort the data by descending order to show me which pages are getting the most clicks. My current setup only allows for one link per casino, though — i.e. I can’t put a different link on the first text link, second text link, third, and so on… all links for a given casino have the same campaign ID.
It’s certainly possible to set this up — just add a few more fields in the database to accommodate the additional campaigns, then call those specific links in the review text.
Example: My outbound URLs look something like this: mysite.com/go.php?casino=golden-reef-casino
The “go.php” script queries the database to find the affiliate link for Golden Reef Casino. Once it has the link, the page is immediately redirected (via a 301 redirect) to the affiliate URL.
You could add another string to the URL to grab specific campaign links, like this:
go.php?casino=golden-reef-casino&campaign=1
go.php?casino=golden-reef-casino&campaign=2
go.php?casino=golden-reef-casino&campaign=3In your database, you would have a field for each campaign — add as many as you want.
Then, sprinkle campaign-specific links throughout your review to determine which link gets the most clicks. i.e. first link in the paragraph, last link, maybe the banner across the top, or the bottom, etc.
The go.php script collects the referring URL as it retrieves the affiliate link. Chuck all of this info into a database, along with the campaign ID (1, 2, 3, etc), and you should have quite a lot of useful data to pore over.
My overall point — I do think it’s possible to get away from having to change thousands of links every time an affiliate program decides to change the way the links work. It might take time to set everything up initially, but (in my opinion), it’s well worth it.

InactiveI get your point and agree with you it’s definitely preferable to have a clicks or go.php to redirect all clicks. I didn’t think about a click out script that would actually be as good as having page wide campaigns. I’ll look into that.

supervinceMemberI wrote a similar program but uses zones as well. All my links look like http://website.com/click.php?id=12&z=5
This way I can create many zones for different locations on my website and I can see where all my clicks are coming from. Tells me what banners and locations perform the best.
Capturing the referring URL will tell you what page your click came from but if you have many different banners on that page then it would be nice to know which locations are performing. Well… I guess you could figure it out if your not rotating the same banners in different locations.
