InactiveEven if you move your sites offshore, even if all the casinos are offshore 90% of US gamblers will NOT be able to view or access the casinos through their internet connections.
Not a very good situation if these laws are passed.
This is exactly my concern ever since I started seing this articles. There are a bunch of recent articles going live as press releases for this announce:banger:
The way I see it and my conclusion: As a “maybe” law student, the government now stands a good chance of making this internet gambling industry dissapear.
It happen with many markets, perhaps one of them is a great example: “Ephedra”.
What happen with ephedra in the last decade? Bunch of letters were sent to eliminate the sale of such powerful and safe product. Ultimately what happened? Hundreds of letters later, a sudden famous baseball player death…
Found the reasons( NOT the causes), had a motive ( pharmaceuticals were NOT profiting enouf and therefore losing money)…they restrcited it.
The way I see the online gambling market now, is the same way I saw the natural product “Ephedra” completely banned. Same order.
And to make matters worst…they add ‘money launder’, ‘ high probabilities of terrorism'( in which in this area is utter B.S)…is a slam dunk in the wrong side for me:satisfied
The problem is, this decision issue… is unpredictable and completely unsecure. Anyways, I will keep developing my gambling site.

InactiveLike I said its already being done.
“Italy’s Ministry of Economy and Finance passed a law threatening to fine any Italian ISP which allows access to a list of gambling sites.
“The Italian state will on Friday block 684 internet gaming sites which are considered to be illegal, to protect Italian gamers from ‘phishing’ – the fraudulent acquisition of passwords and credit card details.
“All sites licensed in Malta are included in the list, which was put into force following Italy’s 2006 Budget, to block all online gaming sites which are not licensed in Italy. The law stipulates that ISPs in Italy should block the websites, otherwise they will be fined for every that they are in breach of the law.
“The Italians have threatened ISPs in Malta with a daily fine of EUR180,000 in a unilateral move that has been described as a case of protectionism.
The US Gov will have no problem imposing the same on ISPs here! Our freedoms have been on the decline for a long time; the majority of citizens are just to damn content with their own personal lifes to give a damn.

InactiveItaly will face problems with that law since it is a clear violation of WTO and EU rules. UK traded companies are filling complaints on EU against Italy governement, since this move is no more than proteccionism.

InactiveMaybe N. Dakota’s population to soar – they passed a law that states:
In a landmark move congressmen in North Dakota have passed a bill that may allow online poker operators to be licensed in the US for the first time.
The Internet Poker Bill, HB1509, would allow poker firms to locate servers in the state and offer their services to a global audience.:kisser:I spent about 4 hours reading state laws pertaining to online gambling and every state is totally different from one another.
I know alot of people are unhappy w/ us right now but the US is not a dictatorship and if ND is one of the states that passed the law in favor of the above, I don’t see how the Federal gov can repute that. Let’s everyone hope that all servers move to N Dakota –

InactiveTry to tell that to Oregonians who allow marihuana for medical purposes, allow Doctors to dispense medicine to fatally ill people that allows them to end their suffering and married hundreds of gay couples.
Been doing this for years and years and the feds keep a’knocking but stubborn Oregonians just dig in deeper and resist.
The Oregon lottery also offers online gambling, including scratchies, Keno and sportsbetting.

InactiveThere may very well be millions of players (I’m sure there are) but if they don’t speak up, if they don’t make themselves be heard, it might as well be 100. That is the biggest problem opponents to this bill are facing. They have got to motivate the masses and it can’t be done on gambling websites. They won’t reach nearly enough people. The average American Joe has no idea how this bill will work and unfortunately won’t be too concerned. Look at what they managed to pass in the name of Patriotism and Terrorism (but tell them that there’s going to be a surtax on emails and watch the armies line up. Email campaigns will spread the country like wild fire).
What is needed is an effective way of letting the American people know what’s happening and how this will affect them, whether they gamble online or not. Interviews in gambling magazines, articles posted on gambling websites is not enough exposure. You’re preaching to the choir.
One idea is make it a hot topic for radio talk shows. Pro or Con it can only help to get the word out.

InactiveI remember that Dom when I was living there – they’re a different breed of people they are.
Alot of articles I read all say the same – It would put us back into prohibition.
Nevada allows it to state residents, New Jersey as well. Trying to read in-between the herewith’s and pursuant to mumbo jumbo, right now if you run it as a business or as an agent, it’s a criminal offense. If you use it as a player, it’s not.One month, I believe it will be 3 years in April, I made a little over 25k in commission at Captain Cook with a little over 200 new sign-ups. Then the credit card problems kicked in, and it took almost 7 months before I made any more money from them.
I have been able to make deposits when I play using a business credit card.February 25, 2006 at 4:52 pm #684708Anonymous
