I used a new email address to confirm ownership of sites and had them removed, and it worked!. Now will see if they sell off this email address.

It says I have to download a file and add to the site – did you do that?!
I emailed them and demanded they remove it right away because google penalized us. They removed them right away.
So i blocked updowner from one of my sites and this morning i got message in webmaster tools saying googlebot is blocked from my site.updowner is only thing we blocked so does this mean updowner is googlebot?

Judy send me your robots.txt to check it
…. it should not block googlebot.
Did you try google fetch to test any url?You can atually also email them to remove it from their listings and remove the block once they remove the site from their listings..
I did both and so far so good… no changes yet or any issues..
They got back to me and removed the links – I hope it has a positive effect

It wouldn’t surprise me if Google dumps the whole updowner.com domain from their Serps.
I had a friend who something similar 4-5 years back and Google dumped him in 2 weeks. Surprised these guys are still showing in the serps.
There is a thread running on Google by webmasters outside of this industry about updowner
