I am starting to venture into getting some of my sites translated. I was wonder what you think the priority should be by language?
Should i use my traffic patterns to help or what?
Thanks in advance, im clueless as to where i should start

December 12, 2007 at 11:04 pm #756364AnonymousInactiveI’d always suggest English as the first choice
Seriously though, alot depends not only on your traffic, but what content you have and how it is best aimed. If its a casino or poker reviews site and you have rooms/casinos with French translations, then that makes some sense…etc etc.
Outside of English and Chinese, Spanish and French are widely spoken outside their native lands (South America, Africa, Canada etc). That’s where I started. Or you could look a it from a cultural angle: which nationailties have a gambling culture. Turkey? Greece? There are several considerations.

Getting translation is easy but if its not done by gaming people you will usually end up with really bad quality, in which case your visitors usually would prefer English.
Don’t translate 1 page to 20 languages, I think its correct to choose 1-2 languages and stick to them, translate many pages targeting many different keywords. Language specific keyword research is very important to do before you dive in.
My 2 cents

That’s going to be the safest way to test the waters.

Here are some things that you should also consider to have your sites translated.
1. Find out the languages that casinos that you promote support such as:
– Customer support (Online and offline)
– Payment options for specific countries based on language (very important)
– Casino Software2. Check that your traffic pattern matches with casinos you are planning to promote on your translated site.
3. Find out from the casino the countries that they recommend you to target based on previous results. Some casinos migth help you on providing this information and further the type of games those countries play (table games/slot games).
More Important: Make sure that content that you will have on your translated site should “talk” to that foreign player and content includes popular keywords for that specific country/language.
Good Luck!
