InactiveFor those interested:
An email from RiverCityGroup suggests the following
are the top 5 online markets in alphabetical order
with no percentages.Australia
Hong Kong
Singapore
U.K.
U.S.November 1, 2003 at 12:15 pm #640941
vladcizsolMemberIn terms of ranking I would have to say they are something like this:
US
UK
Aus
HK
SingThe only problem is these figures don’t show the weighting associated with the markets.
And what happened to Canada? Are they lumped in with the North American market? Based on my sales I would say they are certainly top 5.
When sales are down in the real markets the Casinos like to wave around the EU as this growing bohemoth, well where is it?
Where is Germany, France and Denmark? I know I get more players form those markets then Singapore and Hong Kong put together.
I think Rivercities may be drinking that brown river water again when they came up with this “data’

InactiveLOL
I think they are putting Canada with the U.S.
I too believed that Canada was up there in market share … only
because high speed and internet in general had
relatively high penetration rates … and I was always surprised
to see alot of players coming from there. It looks like they focused mainly where English is strongly present.

InactiveUnsure if I would class HK in the Top Five online gambling countries, but I would certainily class them in the top 5 gambling nations.
Last year I thought a law passed making it illegal to accept gamblers from HK and operate from there (it looks like the HK Jockey Club has the best monopoly in the house).
http://www.adlawbyrequest.com/international/JockeyClub72301.shtml
Why This Matters: Online gambling is booming in Hong Kong. Operators of Internet gaming emporiums around the world have netted billions in profits from Hong Kong residents over the last several years. If the Hong Kong Legislative Council passes the bills requested by the Jockey Club, it could diminish the market for unlicensed online bookmakers.

vladcizsolMemberI remember it was made illegal in Hong Kong and a conference scheduled there was canceled.
I still think the numbers are questionable
