rainbowmasterMemberi have to take 12 days of to read and understand it…lmao
Thanks alot for the tips:wink-winkFebruary 3, 2009 at 9:12 am #794310
CookyMemberWhere in the world were you last week Alex? I asked around and even called Michael C. your name from behind thinking you were him?? I couldn’t find you at the CAP’s either.
I was neck deep in the whole CAP/CAC thing. I spoke to Corfman and his son when they first arrived, J.Todd 10 seconds after the incident and he was walking outside, and even Marc Lesnick while the ‘BIG’ meeting was going on upstairs. I was wanting to chase you down for those free beers you mentioned and a few other things, including that mess.
Anyhow, I’ll see you in Cancun and Amsterdam.
Drop me a line when you get the chance, and read the geotargeting tip VERY closely. This is the moneymaker for you guys (and all the rest of the affiliates!)

InactiveJust a quick thank you, Gary. I was at both the SEO panel and your own 12 tips talk the next day. Really great stuff very much appreciated.
How best would you like us to contact you if we have clarification questions regarding any of your 2009 tips?
Much thanks again.

InactiveFantastic job!
Your information clearly condenses just about everything I’ve ever heard about SEO.
It certainly has a lot of new information.
It also points out the rewards of going to CAP meetings.
Your post is worth more than all those crummy ‘how to do’ pitches I ever seen.
SUPER!

PaolinoMemberThis is really great, Gary
I was at CAP, but needed to go to a different seminar that overlapped with yours, so only managed to catch your last 4 tips on the day.
So, to see that you did this write-up is fantastic
Cheers

CookyMemberThanks rmeeuwsen,
To be fair, that was the absolute worst session I’ve ever given because I was covered up trying to get an article out for CAP magazine and iGaming, finishing Top 12 Tips written summary, and attempting to finish the powerpoint.
I promise if you come to CAP Amsterdam you will get a version that will belittle this one.
I’m glad you got a lot from it but compared to my usual performance I was very disappointed.
I’ll make up for it tho!

InactiveHi Gary,
This quote below, could you elaborate a bit more on this please? I’ve never used social bookmarking and am unsure what you mean by google alert.
Also unclear on how does this boost rankings as you’de need lots of users bookmarking your articles, correct?
In summary:
What’s a google alert?
How do you get quick boosts from this?(apart from lots of other users bookmarking)Many thanks in advance

CookyMemberHi newtothis,
Google Alerts (http://www.google.com/alerts) send an email to you dependent on your settings – immediately or once a day. You tell them that you want to monitor “garythescubaguy” and any reference to that keyword will trigger an email to you.
I use it to monitor syndication of press releases, new links and a billion other things. What it essentially does is monitor the Google databases and lets you know when something happens, like a new link to your website.
Monitoring the SBM (social bookmarks) that I put in place using Google Alerts is more of a technique that I use to monitor what SBM’s are working so |I can fine tune resources.
I have done extensive (and I mean EXTENSIVE) research on SBM’ing and can tell you that they will enhance your rankings. Typically it only works for 30-45 days…but it works. Especially if you are in the top ten and need a little boost to test the waters to see if you should spend a bit of money on SEO to gain a few positions.
You don’t need votes on these or have a network of people also voting. Of course that would be beneficial, but its not necessary. Onlywire is a pretty cool tool for this, if they would support it a little better, but its worth using.
One more thing, I use roboform and install evey SBM (firefox) plugin that I can get so the task of SBM’ing becomes a “one-click” task.

InactiveThanks
– I’m starting to digg it :wink-winkI did a little experiment and added one of my articles to digg and 8 hours later the digg page for my article came up on 8th place on the keywords I was targeting (impressive).
I just wanted to know how this worked as I hear a lot of ppl talking about it but never understood how they got the ranks out of it (without having an amazing article about a new war or whatever. Many thanks Gary, my curiosity is satisfied.
