marthglibMemberIt is in a pretty bad state as those in Victoria can vouch. The Red Cross is calling on volunteers to man the phones for donations and first aid help.
A friend of mine had described the horrific sights that she saw, no more than a 10 min drive from where she stays.
It has been a cruel disaster, but it’s something that has brought our nation together.

InactiveIt is really so sad one of our down under moderators keeps us updated with daily news. I imagine that the Californians can pretty much get an idea of what these poor people are going through.

GeoffreyMeMemberi have 3 staff that have lost their houses, 2 that are still fighting fires as cfa volunteers
stories of 80 foot high fires moving at up to 100 km’s an hour throwing fireballs in front of themselves is not really comprehendable and i live a couple of hours from it

InactiveIm in Melbourne and for the last two days we have been able to smell the smoke from the bushfires some being 60-100 kms away. Its been surreal with the sun being covered by the smoke. Its been very hazy.
This event has touched so many people as it has been the worst natural disaster Australia has ever faced.
I have put red cross donation banners on our Australian sports betting site. Its time like these just goes to show how generous Australians are as they always pull together in times of need. As this time, we are on the receiving end its good to see help coming from around the world as Australians always give generously to world wide appeals for help. The true Aussie spirit.
Sadly the fire threat is not over with feb and March being some of our hottest month. I have never personally experienced 45-47 degree (115 Farenheit) until this summer and boy it is not pleasant. Like walking into an oven and with hot winds makes it like you are being cooked alive.
Its good to see some of the sports betting companies in Australia contributing so generously and Im hoping some of the other Sport betting sites even the big International ones come to the party.
If you want to donate, you can donate to the REDCROSS appeal.
Its events like these that put life into perspective and makes you realize that you time on this earth is limited and to make the best of it and enjoy every single minute of it.
Thanks for all your support. We Victorians truly appreciate it.
Kind Regards

InactiveI was in Melbourne over the weekend and as the plane was coming in for landing on Friday afternoon I looked out the window and the sun was like a red ball of fire in the sky. There was a blanket of smoke over the horizon with just the sun coming through and under the sun it looked like the earth was on fire.
Sunday walking through the city there were smoke gusts and it was a bit smelly in the afternoon, but apart from that I didn’t really notice much while I was on the ground.
A friend of mine had told me he was taking photos of houses at the end of his street that had burnt down when the fires just started, and I havent heard from him since. I’m sure he is ok, but it is a little worrying.
