InactiveReading affiliate and player message boards to stay up to date on what’s going on from these perspectives. I think it’s a must if one doesn’t want to be blind-sided by aff programs going bad or massive player issues. I also stay on top of industry news.

winner.comMemberI’m addicted to Tracking (and why I can get 5 hits in one hour from google for “X” and then not see that hit again for weeks.)
I also spend a lot of time trying to figure out new way to write the same thing over and over – and maybe just maybe getting the right combo of words
I also try to figure out how players get mysterious bonuses even if they have never deposited a dime (for example) – emailing aff. managers and getting some BS response and then spending too much time taking down their casinos
and this week wishing I was in London

InactiveIt varies a lot. We all get burned out and need to get away a bit. If i have somthing new to program or i think i can improve on somthing I can work 13 hours a day, and think about it while going to bed. Some days I dont want to see the computer at all but still need to check in and see whats going on.
Tracking, lol sometimes ill spend an hour going through affiliate stats and then analytics, then positions as well.

InactiveLately I’ve been looking a lot more at time management with my websites.
Dividing up my day into hourly lots for certain tasks, so I go through a check list of items I need or should do on a daily basis, and then have 3 or so hours free for exploration into different areas, or spend more time investing into things which may need more attention (etc coding).
Worst thing I am finding is, putting things of, for another day!
It’s nice to see so many stats junkies here! I live by looking at my stats, trying to dissect it or understand player behaviour.

winner.comMemberI see a hit, I see the click through, see the hit at the casino, I see the download, I see the sign up, I wait wait wait @#$%^&*()__(&^%$#@@%^&*(# why didn’t you deposit money you $%&#$@$er
The other thing I LOVE seeing is where I have clearly written either no Canadian or No USA and people from that country click on that casino “you Stupid $%^%#$#^%$er”

InactiveLol, I like watching the path people take on the site. Where they eventually end up sometimes inspires additional keywords, different layout etc for the landing page they used…
My site is so huge that it’s imperative I know people’s paths and optimize it for them.
IMO webmasters spend too much time figuring out how to get more visitors and too little time making things easy to use for them and thus maximizing conversions to clicks on site.
No point getting tons of traffic if it ends up going to waste….

InactiveIts nice to see that everyone does things similarly. I used to complain that I needed 28 hrs in a day, but day planning helps me complete most of my tasks these days. And then I try to build what I call a “war chest” for projects. If I can pay someone $100 for 8 hrs to do some development.. thats 8hrs for me to do something else!

InactiveI hate structured daily schedules. There are some things I do routinely every morning, such as mail and stats etc.
But I make sure I have time online that is unstructured and lets me follow wherever it will lead. I have my best ideas like that.
What I do not do, and I think most others do, is visit competitors sites. I find it only prompts me to consider unnecessary changes, influences my design and leads to conformity rather than uniqueness.
I haven’t been to other aff sites for years, unless a friend sends me a link and asks me to look at something.
I do take time to surf my own site. I try to look at it from different perspectives – the surfer who is looking for a quick link to a new casino, the one who is looking for a specific piece of info etc. Making sure page layout allows quick decisions, navigation is fast and nothing irritates the eye. The bigger the site, the more important this becomes.
The “war chest” is ever important. I try to limit myself to what I am good at and what I enjoy. The rest is done by others. This keeps me happily working while it also ensures the highest efficiency.

InactiveWhat would you say is the biggest time waster a webmaster can do.. work wise..

InactiveRight now I have many sites in different industries woing nowhere, so my time now is devoted to invest my time in only two of them. Casino and other niche.
Too many sites for a small biz is the best way to waste money and time.
The SEO effort is my main activity these days.February 6, 2011 at 12:45 am #814519Anonymous
InactiveI gotta agree with you, too many sites when the others aren’t “self running” is a huge time waster. I used to try and launch 4-5 sites at once.. 1 is much easier, and more manageable.
