InactiveOcean Point was nice but I vote South Beach. Always nice to be in the heart of the action so people can break up into small groups if they feel like it and not worry about going home with the crowd.
Quote:gotta be some golfing done too, I want to play against spearmaster again. And Garth has to bring his “roommates” from VegasWhat he means is he wants to kick my ass with one hand tied behind his back

Garth – if they show up, you’re a genius

vladcizsolMemberSouth Beach is fine with me. Randy can you get us a good deal at Loews, that would be my first choice in South beach?
Thanks John, once we agree on hotel and firm up dates and pricing it’s pretty much set. We probably could use some help with Golf arrangements if you’d like. Any courses anyone is particularly interested in playing?
January 7, 2004 at 9:51 pm #643257Anonymous
InactiveThe Loews is a great hotel, but I can’t get it on those dates.
I’ve got a couple of options that look pretty good. These prices
are tentative though:Roney Palace Beach Resort at 24th & Collins is $159 per night. A little bit north of the nightlife, but a nice hotel and a good price.
The Shelborne is really nice. 18th & Collins. $249 a night.
I’ve also got a great deal at Don Shula’s Golf Club, which is about 15 miles from South Beach, but it’s a great price. $99 a night. 4 star property. Great golf, from what I hear. Wonderful steakhouse too.
Hope that’s helpful!

vladcizsolMemberThanks Randy. Those hotels are north of South Beach and not really walking distance (for those of us that arent marathon joggers). Shulas is a $40 cab ride from south beach, its great for golf though. I personally dont like to stay above 12th and Collins unless I am in North Beach or at Eden Roc or Fountain Bleu.
Hey, how about Foutain Bleu, its an awesome hotel?
Ideally we want a hotel on Ocean Drive.
January 7, 2004 at 10:35 pm #643264Anonymous
InactiveGosh, Professor–I can’t do the FountainBleu either.
Here’s a couple of more good ones though, further south:
The Mercury Resort & Spa, 100 Collins Avenue, $205/night
The Savoy at 4th and Ocean is nice too. $255/night.
The Beacon at 7th and Ocean is nice. $199/night.
The Whitelaw at 8th and Collins. $179
Those are all 4 star properties.

vladcizsolMemberThe Savoy is Perfect and gets my vote. If we are going to do South Beach we might as well be on South Beach. This is a nice resort.
The beacon doesnt have a pool or beach, you have to walk to the public beach (ok, ok, its across the street, still I prefer a private beach area)
The others are on Collins and you can’t see the Ocean or Beach (or the Bikinis) and have to walk two blocks to reach Ocean Blvd where the action is.

InactiveThe Savoy is a great hotel and I stayed there before… it get my vote to
