I could part with the domain basketballbetting.com for $30K as i have too many domains and not enough time. thats a whole lot cheaper than 7 figures.

That’s the problem with domain appraisals. They are usually based on age, PR, and links. It’s hard for people who don’t know the industry to realize the potential of what the domain name is really worth. I would say build it!
It might be worth been $500k and 1 million dollars, but I seriously doubt anyone would buy sportsbetting.com at the moment. It is a fantastic domain name, but being a .com domain name, and a domain that targets sports betting, it would almost certainly end up getting seized by the US government. It might be worth a fortune in the future if the UIGEA ever gets modified or overturned.

I agree pretty much useless are the appraisals. I’ll only use the ones that give public data on public sales of domains similiar or of other cc’s. Then you can kind of get an idea of what you want to value it. If this domain was for sale for only $1m, I would no brainer insta-buy.
