InactiveI’m by no means tight with cash, and am always prepared to pay for good service. But this does seem kind of expensive for what it is…
Might still use it, but I’ll be expecting it to be perfect!

InactiveKris once you use it then you will see how much of a time saver this tool is. I think it is worth every penny and maybe you can claim in on taxes?

It’s $1 a day or less depending on the subscription you choose. So, it just depends on how much your time is worth to you. If it only saves you 15 minutes per day, it’s already worth it since I guess you value your time at more than $4 per hour

But the time saving is only one advantage. For me it’s even more important that I’m able to see all our stats at a glance, so that I can quickly see which programs perform and which don’t. The more affiliate programs you use, the more likely it is that you don’t notice if one or more are not performing well.
And a software like StatsRemote can never be perfect. Affiliate programs change their stats all the time and in such cases it can happen that StatsRemote temporarily displays no or wrong data. That’s why we release updates every week.
Also, the stats of some affiliate programs are not compatible with StatsRemote. For example, some only show your total stats (it’s not possible to query any time periods) and everything is reset to zero once you request a payout.
But we support more than 200 gambling affiliate programs and several thousands in total. Therefore it’s quite likely that you can check almost all your stats with our software. And if a program is missing we will try to add it ASAP

 … and StatsRemote is definitely a business expense.

InactiveIt’s a good idea, I’ve signed up to try it and I hope you keep improving it and do well.
Here’s some suggestions.
– don’t automatically charge the monthly credit card fee after the free trial. It’d be good to be able to sign up for the yearly rate after the trial. It’s not a porn site – why use that aggressive model? This is software – just disable it after three days and then let the user decided which subscription to buy. The cautious people who want to try before they buy will most often also be the ones that want to go with the long term option if they like what they see. It annoyed me that I had to either sign up for the yearly rate OR try it before I bought – I couldn’t do both unless I cancel everything, and sign up all over again…
– add the ability to have multiple ‘account profiles’ under the one login. A lot of affiliates will have accounts that they own 100% and then some in partnership with others. Or they will want to keep general sites and gaming sites apart, so segregated monthly totals and account stats need to be kept. I don’t think a separate subscription should be needed for this. Even just the ability to ‘group’ programs and have subtotals would do. It’s too simplistic to assume that everything is always lumped into the one total.
– it needs a way to account for tiered revenue share percentages, otherwise stats at some programs will be inaccurate month to month if a higher % is attained. For example – Bodog’s stats return just the NGR, so a earn % has to be manually input into stats remote – but in my case revenue grew to a new threshold this month, upping % earn from what it was the previous month – if I change the percentage in the account details it makes this month accurate, but past months inaccurate…
– a mass account upload feature would be good – from a csv or similar. It’d be very easy to do and really cut down the initial setup time. Get the program to export a spreadsheet with all the gaming programs listed and the required fields, then affiliates fill in usernames & passwords and delete unnecessary rows, then import it back to the software.
– with all the data that it has access to, I’m surprised there are no reporting or graphing tools available. You can’t even export… Sure you can copy and paste to excel I guess, but it’d be nice to hit a button and graph the year’s growth month to month and stuff like that. What’s the use of having stats if you can’t get them represented in the easiest formats to understand and see your trends? You might say this is just a stats gathering tool, not an analysis tool, but if I log into the affiliate websites, I can do things like this at most programs and look at month to month stats all at once, so if you want people to skip logging into the affiliate sites, we need the same sort of tools available.
– Why make the password field be filled in twice? I understand it for collecting data accurate data via a web form – but for a reporting app it is just overkill and a waste of time to paste the password twice all the time.
– please add Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars, Duplicate Poker, 888, Bookmaker.com, Poker4ever, Poker Host, Fabulous.com.
It saves a lot of time in logging in everywhere, and I’m going to stay a customer just for that. But in terms of comparative value – I don’t even pay Bill Gates $1 a day to use windows or office and they are often updated and have a LOT of tools etc! This is worth it for me because of the sheer number of programs to check – but is it good value for money in terms of what somebody would usually pay for software – I’m not so sure. I think you’d grow your user base a lot more by dropping the price point a little and looking into alternate revenue streams like advertising – you can’t get a much more targeted audience and I’d actually like to see some offers from affiliate programs that want my business as I’m checking stats.

InactiveAnother suggestion…
Add the ability to manually update past month’s revenue, or simply add a line item to a single month. This is handy when the affiliate programs are offering bonuses – eg send us 20 players this month and get an extra $200, or an extra $10 CPA per player. We need to be able to report that $200 somehow, because more often than not these sorts of things are not included in the normal stats.
It would also be good when Stats Remote is not working for a particular program. For example, of the programs I have input so far about 8 don’t seem to be reporting… I’m still going to have to log in manually to those programs to see the stats – it’d be good if I could paste the past month’s results into Stats Remote so my records are complete, even when it can’t seem to retrieve the data itself.

InactiveI’ve been using statsremote for over a year and couldn’t do without it. JB has always been quick to update programs when I submit an error report on the website. I have no problem with the monthly fee at all considering the work that goes into it.:wavey:

There are several reasons why we use this model but for business security reasons I cannot discuss this in public. I’m sure you’ll understand.

IMHO you can’t compare Microsoft products to StatsRemote. StatsRemote is a niche product and the potential user base is limited. And I would never mix a subscription based service with advertising. For me it doesn’t matter how much I pay for a software, if I pay, I definitely don’t want to see advertising in the software on top and I know that most of our members think the same. StatsRemote was released as a subscription based service in 2002 and over the years there were several other free programs which depended on advertising. None of them really made it and most are long gone.
Neil (McP) will answer all other things shortly.

pjvMemberKris – Following on from JB’s reply above, I’d just like to echo his appreciation for your detailed feedback….

Even just the ability to ‘group’ programs and have subtotals would do. It’s too simplistic to assume that everything is always lumped into the one total. This ability to group and segregate your stats is coming in Version 4. However, in the meantime, you can run multiple instances of StatsRemote on the same PC which will go some way to meeting your need.

Get the program to export a spreadsheet with all the gaming programs listed and the required fields, then affiliates fill in usernames & passwords and delete unnecessary rows, then import it back to the software. This is already on our to-do list and will be included as part of a future Version 4.x release sometime next year.

You can also right click a program or the totals and select Show Graph…. For example, this feature already allows you to display a graph for the year’s growth ‘month to month’ for either individual programs or the totals. Both of these features will be significantly improved in Version 4.
Kris;144948 wrote:– Why make the password field be filled in twice? I understand it for collecting data accurate data via a web form – but for a reporting app it is just overkill and a waste of time to paste the password twice all the time.Writing as someone who is on the receiving end of the support emails, a significant number of these are already password entry errors and frankly this would only increase if we were to only have one field. Given this is only encountered when adding a program, we would prefer to keep this requirement.
Kris;144948 wrote:– please add Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars, Duplicate Poker, 888, Bookmaker.com, Poker4ever, Poker Host, Fabulous.com.Full Tilt Poker… we tried to add it before but were not able to. We will look into this again in case they have changed something in the meantime.
PokerStars… we contacted them before to get an affiliate account but never got one. Do you have a contact there we could use?
Duplicate Poker… they use Commission Junction. Please add a new account to StatsRemote and select ‘Commission Junction’ as program type. Or do they have their own affiliate program as well?
888.com… It’s listed as two programs: Casino on Net and Pacific Poker. When we added these programs they were separate and we kept it this way when they merged because people asked us to do that.
Bookmaker.com… we signed up with them and will try to add them ASAP.
Poker4ever (Rakemakers) … we signed up with them too and will try to add them ASAP.
Poker Host …. we’re in contact with them and I hope we will be able to add it soon.
Fabulous.com… should be included in this week’s update.

That said, we will investigate the possibility of making it possible for you to manually enter these totals.

grimsqueakerMemberHey..
Haven’t read all the posts, so please kick me if this suggestion allready has been brought up..
How about you include a currency calculator, so you can check your earnings in you own currency ?
* Typos are included for free *

InactiveSorry to complain here, but I sent an email thru your online form with no response several days ago.
The following programs have an orange square by them in my SR interface even though I can click on them and login properly:
1. 400 Affiliates
2. BetFred
3. BetUS
4. BoDog
5. Slotocash
6. WagershareAll are the same
It’s really annoying me.Thanks!

Inactivekwblue… we received your message yesterday morning and are still looking into this. You would have received a reply by email later today.
When we get error reports, we always need to make several tests to see if we can reproduce the errors.
BetUS… they changed their stats and it should work again with today’s update.
BetFred… StatsRemote gets a time-out when it tries to query the stats. The same happens to us when we try to query the online stats in Internet Explorer or Firefox. We only could get the stats once today, all other times it timed out.
400 Affiliates, Bodog, Slotocash and Wagershare all work fine here and I know that they work for other members as well. We’re still in the process of making more tests and will get back to you with more info by email.

These all used to work for me (except BoDog which never worked), so there definitely is no configuration screwup.
Thanks again.
