Hi,

Does anyone know the legal status of sportsbooks in Canada? I’m sure it’s illegal to place real bets, but what about owning a website?

I know absolutely nothing about this industry, except that in the U.S. one could get into trouble owning a sportsbook portal/site because of the Wire Act.

I also know that online casinos are a little murky legally because the actual betting takes place on an offshore server, not over the wire per se.

Canadian laws seem to be a little more flexible than American laws these days; does anyone know if Sportsbetting sites are viewed in Canada with the same jaundiced eye as the U.S.?
