    Hi Dave,

I have been involved in the sports betting side of affiliate business for a numnber of years, and tried out the casino, poker and bingo side and found the majority of money I see affiliates making and IO personally make derive from sports betting.

With sports betting you will see the player retention to be around 1.5 years, compared to the casino side being on average just a few months.

Getting a sports bettor is a little bit tougher than the casino side, but the gambler is worth five times the value of a casino gambler, so your effort pays off.

I recently launched http://www.gcmoney.com, and also a few years ago I launched http://www.vipprofits.com which are two extremely competitive affiliate programs worth looking at and signing up to see what it is all about.

    Hi Simon,

Thanks for the reply. That is some interesting and good information.

You launched GC Money and VIP Profits? I didn’t know that. Those are actually two of the programs I am considering signing up with. The GC Money site is a tad “sexier” than the VIP Profits site, isn’t it. :tounge2:

    Thanks again for the information.

Both programs (VIP and GC) represent very respected books.

GC Money tends to target men as these tend to be 95%+ of all sports bettors online.

Whe you signup at http://www.gcmoney.com, send me a PM and I will up your starting commissions to 25% for signing up… (now you can’t ask for a better deal than that).

Feel free to post any other questions you have on sports betting affiliate programs.

    Hi Engineer

I would certainly echo what Simon is saying. It is much harder to get players. However, once you have them the retention makes casinos look silly. What I learnt quickly is that you can’t simply advertise sportsbooks, like most casino portals basically do with casinos. You have to find ways to add value. So simple reviews and the odd article ain’t gonna get you the good customers…

Thanks for the additional information, Red.

Hmmm. That is an interesting tip.

Now the trick will be finding ways to “add value.” Does anyone care to add to this, without giving away too much of their “secret sauce?”

    Hi Enigineer,

There are a variety of ways to add value. Some webmasters position themselves as tipsters, and recommend teams that clients should bet on. Others might take a journalist point of view, and review recent games and give their opinion on the outcome. Other sites compare odds from various sportsbooks. We at Sports Interaction offer an XML odds feed for our affiliates use. By integrating this odds feed onto your site, you’ll have our odds directly available on your site. If you can get feeds from other sites, you could set up an odds comparison site for yourself, a great earner.

At Sports Interaction our affiliate managers have loads of ideas on how to add value. Drop us a line and we’ll see if we can help you out with more information.

    Regards,

    Tara

Hi, I was just reading this post and saw the offer of a 25% share when you join up at GCMoney. I was thinking of joining GCMoney already, any chance I can get 25% too?

    Thanks

    We all want 25% :clapper:

Anyhow, I have to dissagree – according to gcmoney, their top affiliate makes $25K and their 3rd top affiliate makes $6K, now if you compare this to a respected casino aff program, their top affiliates make way more than that, so the casino business will always be #1.

However, it’s always good to have a sportsbook or two on your website, because almost everybody is a sports fan, and if they play online casinos, why not betting at sports, as well?

I promote gcmoney, but not because of the big bucks, but because I am thinking – if I become one of their top affiliates, maybe they will let me take one of them girls home from the next party :woo-hoo:  :woo-hoo:

    Hi Tara,

Thank you for the information. Those all sound like great ways to add value. I especially like the idea of using several different XML feeds to compare the odds between sportsbooks. Learning how to use XML (and CSV) feeds is on my long list of things to do….

    Thanks again,

    Dave

    P.S. I sent you a PM.

I think you need to realize that gcmoney is realativly new and that may be why their top affiliate earnings are not as big as say VIPprofits. VIPprofits top earners are between $60k-$100k per month.

We actually made more at GCmoney in the last 2 months than we did with VIPprofits. The 25% is a big incentive to promote them above the rest.

Now the trick will be finding ways to “add value.” Does anyone care to add to this, without giving away too much of their “secret sauce?”

Yeah, I’ll add to it AND give away the secret sauce. Every day there are sporting events all over the world that people wish to bet on. It doesn’t matter what the event is, whether it’s a minor golfing tournament or Manchester City vs Norwich in the English Premiership. All of these things attract searchers looking for the odds, the value bets, etc. If you provide pages relevant to as many events of all sizes as you possibly can, and add odds feeds from the likes of Vip and GCMoney, you will make money from your sportsbook orientated traffic.

Ideally, you should try to rank in the search engines for the big events like the Kentucky Derby, the SuperBowl, the Grand National and the World Cup Finals, but every sporting event every day is a potential source of traffic. Use it wisely. Don’t give out too many good tips unless you are going for a CPA approach, but give your visitors the value of a selection of odds from different sources.

Also, figure out the benefits that each sportsbook really offers. 20% bonus on first deposit isn’t really a benefit. The sportsbook that offers the earliest lines or the best value parlay bets …those are benefits to sports bettors.

From a personal perspective, I’m not a big casino gambler…it bores the hell out of me, to be honest. I do however bet on sports every week and I always go back to the four online bookies that I have accounts with to find the value bets. I think I’m fairly typical of the recreational sports gambler…except that I win a lot more than I lose !

well well well, i think the sia manager has been looking at my site, with the infamous tipster section

for this to work, you have to be an above average handicapper, you can’t buy info on the net from these joker services, where one guy picks one team and the other guy picks the other, when really they are the same guys covering their ass

since i bet on certain sporting events myself, i don’t mind sharing some insight, and even posting my betting slip occasionally.

for example, round 2 of the Champions League soccer, Monaco will be playing at home against PSV Eindhoven, after losing the 1st game 1-0 in Holland.
Monaco is a monster at the Stade De Louis, they have come through in situations like this many times, including last year in this tournament, when they were undefeated at home, and overcame deficits much greater than this one against substancially better quality teams than PSV.
Granted, they aren’t as good as they were last year, after losing several key players, still they are good enough to come through in this one.
I expect Monaco to deliver a Napolean like thrashing to their rival Dutch adversaries at home. Viva La France

ok, so you put in something like that, with a personal touch, don’t get too carried away with stats, use your own instinct, then find which sportsbook is offering the best odds on this matchup, and put up your links.

just a little extra courtesy for your clientel, saving them the time of doing a search, which if they actually go and do on their own, they will probably sign up through another site

and for the guy who mentioned the Kentucky Derby, i’m on that, i will be running the Formulator, which is the top rated handicapping sofware program around, plus i have another program that takes every possible variable into consideration and predicts the winner, the programs i use get their info straight from the NTRA database, so they are guaranteed to be 100% accurate

a lot of things can happen in a race, so nothing is guaranteed, but i will post these findings in my tipster section free, regardless, and i will do this for all the major races, it’s not exactly cheap to run this software, but i would also benefit from this info, as i always bet the Derby

as far as the programs go, i always choose CPA when available, i expect my clients will win money, especially with all the hard work i do to make sure of that, i stay away from the % of net losses schemes these casinos/sportsbooks like to offer

even though i am technically working with the casinos by affiliating with them, my heart is on the side of the poacher, that is my angle
