the4gamblersMemberThat’s interesting. I would have thought that they would be key markets.
Is internet penetration improving in general?

the4gamblersMemberI just found the following figures which show quite a high penetration
Alphabetical List of Countries – Internet Indicators – ISO 3316
UK – 82.5%
Argentina – 64.4%USA – 77.3%
Brazil – 37.8%Does not seem excessively low to me

mcasinoMemberI guess it is emerging market. You can be there, but not to invest a lot.

the4gamblersMemberSo you are saying give it a go, but don’t put too much resources into it because you might not get it back for a long time?

DanmanMemberIt’s still very much an emerging market, but it has developed a great deal in the past couple of years. I worked on launching an established brand in Argentina in 2007. It failed miserably because the only way players could deposit was in cash, at one particular branch of one particular bank in Buenos Aires.
You want to focus on Brazil at this stage. For whatever reason, the comfort levels of depositing via credit/debit card touch European levels there. This is not the case in the Spanish speaking markets in LATAM. Could well be a cultural thing, but this will change in time. My advice would be to build a Spanish site, add content where you can, but focus very much on a Portuguese/Brazilian portal, and on poker and bingo in particular.
One to watch in the next few years is Peru – they love a sports bet there.
BTW – I represent a LATAM facing brand. Drop me a PM if you’d like to know more

elainegardinerMemberHi,
From my experience in the industry, although I´ve just started as an affiliate, depositing options are the main issue in latam. If you are planning on investing I´d recommend not doing it. I currently get a 75% of spanish traffic and a 25% of SA traffic and I haven´t managed to convert a single south american user. They register in mass to any free cash offers but never convert to real money players. I don´t know if it´s any better in Brazil as all my sites are in spanish, it might be worth a try.
Cheers.

the4gamblersMemberThanks jolasare,
All evidence pointing towards very poor deposit to visit ratio from SA, with the possible exception of Brazil.
I think I will look at Brazil maybe. Another quick question:
If targeting a location is it better to register a site in that locations domain to increase you SEO instead of a generic site that targets via language.
So I would register playlivecasino.com.br and also host that site in Brazil
Any thoughts?

elainegardinerMemberIt definitely helps to host sites in local servers and to register local domains.
