Thanks Owl this is an informative article which echos what many have been saying… It’s not pleasant and it’s not what people WANT to hear, but its necessary to look at what is happening from all perspectives.

“Big events like the World Series of Poker, which attract meany players and great interest from online poker sites, could decline in size for the first time in history. I am most sensitive to commenting upon this event because I still have a longstanding association with the WSOP. However, anyone who looks at the situation must conclude that the WSOP and major poker tournaments will be hurt by this new law.”

There will be less then 1000 players this year if the major sites do not have there satellite tournaments

They are destroying lifes. Your average affiliate doesnt have much to lose in comparison to a larger affiliate. I say that because the smaller guys can in most instances easily replace his or her income.

The larger affiliates are not going to replace high five and six figure incomes that dissappear overnight. And if you have been working off media buys it will end overnight, regardless of what they do with residual profits.

Most including myself have entered into financial obligations based on their higher incomes, when it dissappears overnight a good deal of us are going to be scratching and clawing. I dont think another drink is going to help bury this pitiful feeling.

I am sitting in a Multi Million dollar home and have five cars plus all the associated toys and bills one would expect, so I hear you Axl. Believe me I hear you.

Sorry to have brought everyone down by posting this :(

I’m fairly excited about trying new business ventures. Just the boost I needed when life was getting tedious.

I have learned so much being here, I am darn well going to put it to good use.

You have to know when to hold’em and know when to fold ’em, always in life.

People fear change, but change is good.

Perhaps this industry will flourish in a year, perhaps it won’t, it’s anybody’s guess.

What I have done before I can do again, and I will certainly do so. In this industry or any other.

I disagree here. It is all relative my friend. I don’t think is much difference between the guy losing his million dollar house, or the guy losing his $60K mobile home. And I would be willing to bet the big players have a nest egg to fall back on, unlike most upcoming affiliates who live month to month. However, for anyone that might fall into this predictament, I feel your pain. Everyone who is acclamated to a certain lifestyle will have to come up with a way to supplement that income, no matter how much it is. But I do agree with you that it is easier to replace $2K a month than $50K a month. That I do understand my friend.
