LeroyGMemberThat is what we call subconscious marketing. You nail the subconscious part of the mind with that kind of popup. It just comes so fast, and right in the middle of your screen. You don’t even think about it before clicking YES. A percentage of the visitors will just click it. They will hit it before anything. They don’t even know why they clicked yes, they have no idea if that is even where they want to play. Of course the sites that use it have more signups. The conversion ration is likely the same, but they do have more signups. When people search the site and feel it out, they make a conscious decision. This gets them before that. This kind of popup just drags in people hardly paying attention, a bit more unaware. Many sites feel that it is too much. Yes, it has been a trademark of Pacific/888. I think Absolute has done it. It brings in an extra edge for sure.

Inactivewouldnt that mean the same if affiliate sites had a pop up saying visit xcasino or xpokerroom ?
but most affiliates dont have pop ups anymore
ive never tried popups before so i would be interested in peoples results – but i know i hate popups which is why i havent used them before
Most pop ups get blocked anyways by google/yahoo/alexa tool bar and most antivirus programs
However i noticed 888’s never get blocked – they must use a different type of pop up.

LeroyGMemberYes you could do it on an affiliate site I guess. I have not checked the coding.
I can tell you that it is a give/take deal. Some times do it and some don’t. Some people are really annoyed by it, some are not. I know it does work and it does increase the signups. The quality of those signups are just a fraction of the quality of a signup that browsed the site for a bit and decided to download from the standard area.

InactiveWe used to have a popup and we did get a lot of downloads, but the quality was terrible and we seemed to lose a lot of our whales. Once we stopped using it, the quality of players increased with the decrease in downloads. Our users are less annoyed and basically we are all happier.

InactiveYeah, I had one of those on PresidentialSuiteCasino for a while, but I found a similar thing to Peralis. It just irritated the more experienced online gamblers and didn’t do much for the bottom line.
God, those things are annoying.

The other thing I have seen done is a slide in div. This also gets around pop up blockers and is less intrusive than a true popup window that gets blocked by most browsers any way.
Slide in Div Example. http://theopensourcery.com/jspopwin1.htm
