just received an email from this site:

    xxxxhttp://www.recoveryandbeyond.net/

    the site offers:

*On-line support forums for Problem Gamblers
    *A self administered check up
*A NO Charge Download of STEP 1 (of 21) to assist in the recovery initialization and intervention process of a gambling
    problem.

And then they offer to sell a workbook that would help people to stop their gambling addiction problem.

To me this looks like an unethical way of earning money (hmm…did i just say that?!) … or would anyone consider promoting them or at least mentioning them to gamblers?

    thx.

Thats interesting, I don’t know that I would advertise anything that costs, as recovery and support groups are no charge, possibly if one could see the workbook first and make sure it’s legit and not some coloring book….

Hmm.. i read somewhere that some successfull spammer used a strategy similar to this. Well not quite like, since he was spamming a mail list full of gambling addicts with some outrageous promotions! Well he made some serious money and now
claims to be sorry for what he done, since hell is going to have a special place for his ass. However, he wrote a book about it, so i guess hes just making mo money, mo money!

Lol. That website isn’t making any money and I doubt that they will. Not that they don’t have a good niche or their isn’t a market for it because I’m sure there is but they have a horrible sales pitch for a $175 product. Also when you try to order you can choose between US and Canada. That pretty much narrows down your target audience to land based casino gamblers because the UIGEA and online gambling being illegal in canada its getting harder for these “problem gamblers” to deposit into online casinos.

I don’t think its unethical. If they are providing a good service then it might be worth the money. It would definitely be cheaper than professional counseling. But I wouldnt promote it because like I said, they aren’t making any sales and I doubt that they will. They have no traffic and I’m sure they haven’t even tested the sales page. They should test their sales copy to make sure it converts before trying to recruit affiliates.

I don’t think it’s any different than a private rehab clinic for alcoholics or whatever…They’ve got to make money somehow, non-profit or otherwise :)

Addiction is a huge problem and many of us suffer from this. There are free/non-profit ways to be treated and it is worth visiting

    http://www.gamblersanonymous.org/ for gambling issues
    http://www.na.org/ for drug issues
    http://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org for alcohol issues

It is best for anyone suffering to look at the free help out there first before paying.

There are so many more you did not list lol..

    Sex addicts
    http://www.sexaddicthelp.com

    Online games (like warcraft)
    http://www.olganonboard.org/

Internet addiction – (we all have that lol!!)
    http://www.netaddiction.com/

The list goes on and on… I do think though that you should list a help site if you can. I myself just realized I forgot to put it back on my page when I updated it about a year ago. We are all a village you know.
