InactiveOh man, it’s not so much the bad beats, after 20 years of gambling you get used to everything
But these refs are just too much
They’re not trying to call a fair game, but instead trying to dictate the outcome of the game, and it’s not fun to watch at all.
So far in the NHL playoffs i’ve seen them purposely trying to keep games close in order to increase the excitement level, and it’s total bullshit
If a team is losing late in the game, let them lose dammit, don’t give them power plays and 2 man advantages until they score
It just makes me wanna grab my gun and shoot em in the head
Last night i watched Montreal’s captain get his eye gouged out by a deliberate high stick…everyone saw it, 3 damn refs are standing right there looking at the play, and no damn penalty was called
Then with less than 10 minutes left in the game and Carolina losing 1-0 in the game, and 2-0 in the series, the ref calls 5 consecutive penalties against Montreal
Carolina eventually ties it up, then in overtime the ref gives Carolina 2 more power plays, and they eventually scored again
This is not what i consider fair and impartial officiating
And it’s a pattern
If they had their way, every game would go to a game 7 triple overtime
The game is fine, let the best team win, that’s all
And it’s still nowhere near as bad as the officiating that goes on in soccer
These damn refs get away with whatever they want, and never get punished
Yesterday i saw AC Milan have a perfectly clean goal dissalowed for no reason at all, in the Champions League semi final, then the ref blew the game short without completing the full extra time.
A few months ago, i watched a world cup qualifier between Bosnia and Spain, and it was disgusting
Bosnia was winning 1-0 in Spain after 90 minutes
The ref kept the game going for more than 10 minutes of extra time, then awarded Spain a penalty kick, they scored, and he blew the whistle
So what is all this garbage
Who the hell is the ref to decide who should win, what is he, God
Everyone please support my “shoot the ref” policy, lets ensure fair play in the sporting world
:shooter: REF

InactiveRemind me never to piss you off! :wink-wink
Refs can make some crazy calls at times but they do have an incredibly hard job. Sometimes when they try and be impartial they are actually making things worse for themselves. I think, especially in soccer that refs should have the advantage of video replays like they have in cricket, rugby and probably other sports. Personally I don’t think it would delay the game too much as a 4th maybe 5th official could study the instant replay.
I play Lacrosse and find some refs infuriating, but it is a job i will not do again. Having reff’d a couple of games a few years ago I now see just how hard a job it is and the abuse given when you don’t see a foul or make a wrong call!
But, that is part of the reason reffs are there, players and fans need someone to shout at!

InactiveI know the feeling. The referees determined the outcome of the Superbowl. I am a Seahawks fan and the referees definitely favored Pittsburgh.

InactiveIf you watched Detroit vs Edmonton last night, you would’ve seen some more
the game is tied 2-2 with less than 10 minutes to go…then, suddenly, from out of nowhere…Detroit starts getting 2 man power plays…they score(who wouldn’t in that situation)and win the game
ask yourself this
how many times have you ever seen a team given a 2 man advantage in a crucial tied or 1 goal playoff game with less than 10 minutes left to play…10+ years ago ?
answer
Never…you never saw it happen 10+ years ago, ever
Today it happens every night
It is clear and deliberate cheating, like i said
There are only a few possibilities for it, they all revolve around money of course…i suspect they just want to keep the games and series close and exciting in some cases, they are on the take, each game generates millions of dollars, it is just so obvious
Don’t give me that “ref has a tough job” stuff, i know quite well the difference between error and deliberate intent
Just for the record
I didn’t notice anything strange about the Super Bowl…i had Pit to win at 50-1 odds, taken in Dec when their record was 7-5, so it’s understandable i gave the game a thumbs up…i have the game on tape, what part of it troubles you, besides the Pit winning the game part.

InactiveHow about a phantom offensive holding call in the beginning that cost Seattle a touchdown, and a hold against Pittsburgh that was NOT called on their 80 yard TD run. Among several other miscellaneous calls against Seattle. Hell, listen to the announcers during the game. They were commenting on it.

InactiveOk, you’ve got a beef on that 1st call, i haven’t looked over the tape but i remember it
The refereeing in the playoff games prior to the Super Bowl was unbelievable garbage, that i remember
Compared to those games, the reffing in the Super Bowl was a masterpiece
Hockey sucks though, not one good game, and there never will be, ever again
It’s not real, it’s like a Hollywood production now, with added drama and uneeded sub plots, pure garbage
They’ve killed the game completely
I’m watching all these phantom calls being made every night, it’s unreal
I know this game better than anyone, i’ve watched it my whole life growing up in Canada
Last night i saw another Montreal player lose some body parts when he ate a stick, and again no penalty, and again they were looking right at the play
I’ve seen 3 Montreal players hit with deliberate high sticks, and no penalty was called, one guy lost his eye, the other some teeth, and the other took it in the throat
So am i to assume that decapitation is now an acceptable part of the game
What a bunch of fuckin clowns these refs are
The slightest clean contact is being called when they see fit
So now what, they got what they wanted, the series are tied 2-2, ooh, how “exciting”
Meanwhile
Montreal was cruising along up 2-0 in the series, on their way to victory in game 3 and completely dominating, and now they are completely shot, their players are in the hospital, their momentum is totally gone, and all because of the fuckhead refs, pardon my language, but i am really pissed at this crap.
To me the NHL playoffs were always the most exciting game in town, but this new brand of hockey is pure garbage, the other night i just turned off the TV and went to sleep in the middle of Overtime, never did that before
