InactiveI read this article today with some interest myself. Would be interested in hearing others’ opinions. I’m still new to SEO work, but the impression I get is that a few well-placed home page links from a few really good sites is worth a whole helluva lot more than a whole lot of poorly placed links from poor sites…
I could be wrong.

Inactiveno, it is not dead and it does work nicly for me, but I have moved from link manager pages since google ban them (or ignore the links from them) to a much better/easier link exchange system which is also FREE, well I have many sites so it play a HUGE role in my decisions, you can try it out at http://www.link-swapper.com , 1 warning , your server needs to support PHP or ASP to use it.

InactiveI have been fooling around with some simple one page sites. No links. No nothing, just some plain SEO. They are now PR4 and place well in the chosen words.
They are actually works in progress but are performing well, all the traffic is search engine, volume is low, conversions are high.
This proves to me that links are not necessary at all, and for these sites I will not seek any out.
For large, busy properties I will change to listing only a few front page links.
