I used to do that years ago and they were fairly popular but Amazon paid for the books the customer bought at the first visit and then the customer was theirs – no further revenues.

I don’t know if it’s still like that. They had a bunch of nice tools available and were fun to work with but in the end not profitable enough to warrant the space.

I use Amazon and have an account with ABE (advanced book exchange) but make no money. It is a feature for my visitors and that’s the way I look at it. I haven’t looked, but if Conjelco had an affiliate program, they have some of the best books.

Yes Dominique – it’s still like that …

I’ve built a wee Football (soccer) and gambling library out of Amazon.co.uk books. (CLICK HERE TO SEE IT)

Through a mix of trial and error … friends that wanted to support the site … we’ve worked out that unless visitors actually purchase the books on the same visit that they clicked on your links then NO CASH.

If you’ve ever shopped at Amazon or any major web portal that offers a cart then you’ll be aware that most people will put stuff into their cart – then go away and compare prices before finally committing to a purchase …

(which means the affiliate misses out!!)
    :bullshit:

Over the course of a year we’ve sold about 60 books … who know how many were sold that we don’t get credit for … and the total value has been about $100 all up.

Not worth the effort – although I used the cash to buy some books for myself. I don’t know whether I will bother to keep the lists current – if I do it’s as a service to visitors rather than a serious revenue generator.

I set up a site yesterday that uses a free amazon script to query the Amazon web service for books and their reviews.

I dont expect any revenue from this, just another site to link to the rest of my sites in the hope that it gets spidered by the engines. I must just figure out the mod rewrite rules to make the URL’s search engine friendly.

You can have a look at my site at http://www.jackpotbookreview.com . The script is available at http://www.accessories.me.uk/

The only problem, if we all use the same script Google will do us in for duplicate content. I suppose i should have kept quiet. :hmmm:

By the way, this is for Paul (The Gooner), the menu bar on your site is trying to get off the page. I’m using i.e. 6. Heres a screen shot. gooners.jpg
