InactiveI think the name carries a little weight.
You see if the keyword is somewhere in the URL the se make the matches for a certain keyword in bold.Honestly I don’t know if I would sell that but on the other hand who knows what cc stands for?
I would keep that for sale and if I had some time left start working on that.

Thanks Cat. I’ve parked it while i decide
You see the most important question to me is “is it brandable”. I found with oggs that people remember the name which does me a lot more favours than the more casino-related names i have. I think if i play on the “.cc” part and make sure thats part of the branding, it may have a lot of potential…ho hum. Decisions decisions!October 2, 2005 at 3:06 pm #673693Anonymous
InactiveWhat does cc stand for?
gambling.cc sounds exotic and we know that many casinos are on exotic islands.
decisions. Decisions.

I know that.
There are domains that simply have to be registered for the cool name and it’s fine to own them.October 2, 2005 at 3:34 pm #673694Anonymous
InactiveSimmo,
Develop it. Don’t spend all your time on it, but add content to it, say one page a week and link to it with all your other sites. Do this for a year and then you should make a tidy profit on it, if you then decide to sell.

Trillian for example runs off http://www.trillian.cc rather than com. But like all non dot.com domains, type-in potential is virtually zero. the thing that made cc and tv quite popular was the fact that after .com, they are easier to build into branding campaigns than most other tlds.

InactiveKeep it! Domains like that don’t come around very often. I’d keep it and develop it.

InactiveBefore making a decision I’d find out how much people are willing to pay for it.

InactiveDevelop it…
Give the domain some weight and make an information portal about gambling and then down the road once you have something to show you may consider selling it.

InactiveThe chances of ranking high for the term “gambling” is quite low regardless of the root level domain name. It would take years to build the site strength enough to show on the first page of google.
From a branding perspective, I would think it would be rather memorable. Maybe if you equated “CC” with two $100 chips. You might actually end up branding the .cc domain a bit since no one will realize that it is for the Cocos Islands.

InactiveAnd don’t forget.
Once you’ve got the site up you can try to sell it, too.I’d include the coco island in the heading, so that every body knows what the cc is for.

CAT: Personally i think the Cocos bit would do more to confuse than help IMHO but thanks for the input anyway.
