This is really quite shocking. Apparently he was shot to death in his bed when visiting his hometown in Sweden…

Poker player shot to death in Trollhättan
August 5, 2009
The professional poker player Andreas Oscarsson, 36 years, was on temporary visits from the U.S. when he was shot to death in childhood home on Mountain Ridge Road in Trollhättan night to Monday.
His little son was probably present in the room when the murder was committed.
The murder must have happened sometime during the night of 22 on Sunday evening and 10 am on Monday morning when a relative of Andreas found him lifeless in his bed, in the same room where the two-year son was.
The police special children investigators are now trying to talk to his son who is about 2.5 years old.
Thord Haraldsson on county crime tells that the child has been placed in a temporary home and the mother to his son who lives in New York have been receiving notification of, and that she probably will try to come to Sweden. Oscarsson had separated with the mother and they had joint custody of their son. Oscarsson has lived in USA for about ten years and brought with him his son for the first time.
The police suspect that the murder was a family drama.
Police say they now have found a threat. And the hunt for the perpetrators and the motive goes on.

poshatMemberHi there
Firstly let me say how sorry I am to hear this news, I am truly saddened by this…
I used to run PartnerLogic and I had many, many dealings with Andreas. I would have counted him as one of my ‘friends’ in the industry. I spoke to him about babies shortly after his son was born and so on.
I don’t want to get on a high horse, but instead of speculate about the circumstances of his death, can we commemorate his life? He was a true pioneer of this industry, a great man and one of the good guys who always had time for everyone to share his wisdom and his great sense of humour
I believe that the industry has lost a real pro this week
