The biggest issue was that it all happened so suddenly it took the media by surprise and no-one really knew why Russia had gone in. Even now I’m not 100% clear – I haven’t followed it that closely – although I believe Georgia were protagonists in the first instance. The media makes it sound like Russia went OTT – but who knows the real truth?

I get the impression that the media want Russia to be seen as the “bad guys”. The latest follows the ceasefire and the media report that Russian troops are spreading out – made to sound like they are preparing for more fighting, when in fact part of the ceasefire agreement was that Russian troops would oversee different parts of the area.

Whoever is right/wrong, let’s hope the ceasefire lasts and a peaceful solution is sought.

I’ve been also following the conflict very closely because Russians and Georgians are brothers and sisters for me and for my country. And I was really sorry to see how Georgians started hate Russia and all Russians.
I watched different TV channels “Vesti” on NTV-PLUS, BBC, CNN and others. I’ve heard a lot of opinions about this situation but I know the one thing – NOBODY CAN KILL peace people, and it only thanks to Russia that most people from South Ossetia and Abkhazia are live now. Russia didn’t attack Georgia. They just tried to protect South Ossetia. And the first who helped South Ossetia was Russia. Almost all people from South Ossetia have Russian passports, and Russia must protect them!

When Georgia attacked South Ossetia on August,7, nobody helped South Ossetia, almost all countries including EU and USA kept quiet, but when Russia tried to help South Ossetia, all these countries started an aggressive campaign against Russia. I was shocked…

Tshinvali was fully destroyed, a lot of children were killed by Georgians, they tried to kill everyone, including Russian and foreign journalists. Is it normal? I think, no.
