burundiMemberI got the same email… how distasteful
March 1, 2010 at 10:03 pm #808738Anonymous
InactiveOk, so far we have the following reactions:
Apollo is raising comissions by 5% to offset the changes, but only if you deliver one player a month.
Slotocash and Box24 are independent from the rest and will not adopt the official new Rival policies, all remains as was before.
Jaxon from Cocoa and Paradise8 is on sudden, indefinite leave and the new contact is Jason[at]thejetsetlife[dot]com

InactiveAnother update:
Planet23 is also not going to implement Rival’s changes. It seems the amounts deducted by Rival may show n your stats, but Planet23 is going to make up for it.
That now makes 3 promotable Rivals I am aware of at this time:
Slotocash
Box24
Planet23I’ll keep you updated as I find out more.

Here is another update, my email conversation with Jason from 400
First, I got this email (as Im sure everyone else did)
Hi again everyone.
I forgot to mention something important yesterday when I told you all about the sign-up package changes at Paradise 8. For those of you that have exclusive sign up bonuses with us, those will not change. Again, all exclusive affiliate sign up bonuses will not be affected by the changes to the standard sign up bonuses at Paradise 8. If anyone sees a change please let me know right away and I’ll make sure it’s rectified.
I apologize for not mentioning this in my first email.
Email me at [email protected] if you need to get a hold of me for anything at all.
Jason
Then, I responded with:
Dude, I, like any other affiliate with a brain, will never promote you. Think harder next time before implementing shady changes.
Close my affiliate account, and dont send me any more emails.
Best,
And got back:
Sorry Steve,
What shady changes are you referring to.
Jason
And I replied:
Im surprised you ask. Obviously the progressive scam.
S.
And then got this:
Steve contrary to what you might think, it is our program (400 affiliates) that brought this whole issue to light in the first place with Rival and spearheaded the whole investigation as to why there seemed to be something off with one of our affiliates commission payments after a big progressive win.
We’ve been trying to and continue to work WITH our affiliates, mediating between them and Rival to try and come to a situation where everyone is happy. Rival is now aware that affiliates are still not happy with the solution they proposed and my partner has been on msn with them daily to suggest ways in which this can be resolved that is fair to our affiliates.
If affiliates sharing the seed amount with the casinos is the main issue then that’s what we’ll address when we speak to Rival.
I write all of this to you not to convince you to promote us because frankly I have no interest in working with you and (as you requested) will be closing your account with us as soon as I finish writing this. I tell you all of this only so that hopefully you take the time to have your fact straight next time you accuse someone of “scamming”.
Jason
That is interesting, because when I spoke with Paul from superior, he also mentioned to meQUOTE:
Paul~ says:
Contributions have always been in place, since rival put progressives live. It works as in most places (RTG, Micro, etc) – There have been discussions with rival
Regarding the complete transparence of the system that was in place**** Superior is still in negotiations with Rival regarding this… so not sure which side of the fence they will be standing at the end of the day
I can tell you from experience, at least with club world who is an RTG, I had a progressive winner $1.4M, and based on how much was withdrawn so far, how much was played through, and how much is sitting in her account still… not 1 penny of the 1.4 is unaccounted for as far as I can tell.. so Im pretty sure that they arent sticking me with paying for any “seed”
I was under the impression that this was something new being implemented, but word has it that it has always been that way, and just now being exposed… could that be why Jaxon is on an “indefinite” leave? :nono:

Would I be right in thinking that those adjustments are more likely to be down to the Mastercard issue, rather than the progressives contribution
By the way, the first MG group has started to deduct Mastercard and VISA seizure money too, just saw this message on one of the other boards
Dear Affiliates,
In light of current events with both MasterCard and Visa blocking casino
transactions, for the past number of days we have been and are continuing
to receive large amounts of bank initiated charge backs from three of our
payment processors. The processors have in effect confiscated the money with no chance of recovery in
sight at present, although we are currently trying to achieve a favorable outcome
with them. These seized deposits/transactions due to the reasons above, will show up as an
adjustment in the affiliate commission reports as “Chargebacks”. If at any time
should we be able to recover any of the funds, we will reimburse affiliates
accordingly without delay. As stated this only applies to three processors and we are able to successfully
process through our various other processors. Please note that it’s most probable to
see a reduction in commissions earned for February. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Yes, maybe…

InactiveThe mastercard and the progressive issues are two seperate issues hitting at the same time.
Mastercard is an industry wide issue, the progressives are a Rival issue.
Deducting progressive contributions at the end of the month is totally unacceptable, all month one thinks one has earned a certain amount and sends new players accordingly, and at the end of the month suddenly earnings are way lower. You can’t conduct business this way, and I am giving it a short time to be settled before I pull all but the three rivals mentioned above, who will not implement the progressive deductions.
The mastercard issue – it’s still not out how and if it will affect us with all the various programs. So far Vegas Partner seems to be the only non-rival group saying they will define the mastercard issues as “chargebacks”.
March 3, 2010 at 2:55 pm #808783Anonymous
InactiveChargebacks on the programs issues is bogus. So not only do we advertise for them we need to substidise their processor issues?
I mentioned I started off the month with some very large negative balances in some Rivals, not really happy about this crap. Soon they will be sending us bills i think.

Actually, a lot of programs do and always have deducted some measure of progressive fees, lumped with other fees and it’s been built into their aff programs from the start.
The difference is that Rival started this without notification to anyone, without any transparency in the stats, and just suddenly takes money out of your account at month’s end without explanation or any type of accountability.
With the other places that do this, we signed up with the deduction in place, here it is retroactive.
Lots of affiliates had a sudden shock when they logged into their accounts at month’s end and found their comissions had shrunk considerably.
AGD published this:
Example of how this affects YOU
Assumption: 35% Revenue Sharing
Player 1: Deposits $5000. Takes no bonuses. Plays $0 in progressives. Loses all.
Affiliate Share: $1750Player 2: Deposits $1000. Takes no bonuses. Plays progressives and wagers, in total: $75,000 (due to wins and losses). Loses all.
Affiliate Share: $350 – 2% ($75,000) = $350 – $1500 = $-1150Player 3: Deposits $50. Takes no bonuses. Plays progressives and wagers, in total: $25,000. Loses all.
Affiliate Share: $17.5 – 2% ($25,000) = $17.5 – $500 = -$482.50Affiliate End Revenue = $1750 – $1150 -$482.50 = $117.50
Affiliate Revenue Share Percentage = $117.50 / ($5000 + $1000 + $50) * 100 = $117.50 / $6050 * 100 = 1.9% Revshare

TP2112MemberJust received this mail from a Jason (Jet Set Marketing – 400Affiliates)…
Hi Everyone,
I have some news for you regarding the progressive affiliate deductions.
First of all I want to thank all of your for your patience in this matter. I know it’s a heated topic on the forums and a subject of much debate (and understandably so).
Until this point we have been waiting for Rival to make a decision as to how past progressive deductions (Pre-March 2010 ) would be handled. This change was to be Rival white label – wide and was going to be based on whatever the majority of white labels agreed on.
This morning we received an email from Rival stating that “After careful consideration, it has been decided that a unified response is not required in this specific event. Each operator can decide how they want to refund affiliates as they see fit.”
Because of this, we at Jet Set Marketing have decided to refund all progressive deductions from March 01, 2009 to Feb 28th, 2010 for both Paradise8 and Cocoa Casino. We feel that because affiliates were unaware that these deductions were taking place, this option is the most fair to all of you. This solution is what we have been pushing for since discussions started but until now the decision was not ours to make, nor to announce.
We still have not been notified as to how the progressive system will function from March forward as far as affiliates are concerned, but we are anticipating a positive solution that we can all be happy with.
Again, thank you for your patience in this matter and I hope to be writing to you soon with more good news.
Sincerely,
Jason W,
Good news?

InactiveFrom Superior:
Dear Affiliates,
After weeks of discussions with Rival and other white labels in the network, it’s been agreed that each program can decide which action to take when it comes to previously deducted progressive contributions. After studying the situation, and concluding that this was a retroactive change in affiliate contracts, Superior Share will be returning all previous deductions of progressive contributions. We will credit back all past affiliate progressive contributions from February 2009 until March 2010. A more detailed timeline for this is forthcoming.
We are still working on the final details of the progressive system going forward. We have discussed this with many of you, we’ve taken your feedback, and we’re working closely with Rival to come up with a system that will benefit both parties, you as our partner, and our operation as well.
We will be giving you further information regarding the contributions reimbursement schedule and full details on the new system as soon as they become available.
Master Card Issue:
For all of you who were affected by the MasterCard issue, we are extending to you a 10% EXTRA Commission on ALL your new signups during the months of April, May and June of the current year. We encourage you to upgrade your marketing campaigns, so you can better take advantage of this unique incentive. Along with further notices this month, we will be releasing our newest marketing materials and exclusive promotions, so you can better design your campaigns.
Once again, we appreciate your feedback and understanding on these matters. It hasn’t been easy but we know that a serious consideration of the current problems, together with the feedback of our valuable partners, will bring favorable solutions for all.
Thank you and we’ll be in touch very soon.
With best regards,
Paul Art

InactiveSlotsofFortune updated yesterday the affiliates on its stand regarding Progressives.
We’ll be informing soon on the MC seizures.March 12, 2010: Statement on Progressives Contribution
Dear Partners,
We would like to inform you about our stand on the Progressive Jackpots contribution.
The introduction of the progressive slots in 2009 has not been handled with clarity, and the lack of communication provoked unfair affiliate commission calculations. Therefore, we took the decision that our affiliates will not be held responsible for any progressive jackpot contributions. All the contributions will be covered by the operator, and therefore you may feel secure, when promoting our progressive slots. Banners with the progressive stickers are available in the backend for marketing purposes. All deductions, corresponding to the progressives’ contributions will be refunded back to the affiliates.Your business is very valuable to us, and we appreciate your continuous efforts at promoting our brand. We are about to take our final decision on the Master Card processors loss, and you’ll be updated shortly. You can be rest assured that we are taking into the consideration the interests of both the parties and our commitment towards the affiliates and the business demands.
Please feel free to contact us for any additional information, or clarification.
Best regards,
Natalie Stewart.
