vladcizsolMemberGood Job Shanon!
Boy, I can hardly wait! This is going to be a great Spring break. I have always wanted to stay at the Loews, in terms of size and overall amenities its got to be one of the best South Beach properties and a huge step up from previous venues.
I look forward to seeing all my friends and CAP family in Miami!

InactiveWell can you post some nice budget hotels?
:wavey:February 26, 2005 at 1:51 pm #662032
vladcizsolMemberI found three at Travelocity that are within two blocks walk down ocean drive and arent very expensive. Bear in mind this is South Beach so you arent going to find $40 hotel rooms.
Check out
Beacon Hotel – Aprox $140 a night located right on Ocean Drive and a very nice place actually. http://www.beacon-hotel.com/
Avalon Hotel – Ocean Drive – $130 a night. http://www.avalonhotel.com/
Blue Moon Hotel – On Collins ave, but still only two blocks away. This one has a pool $144 a night. http://www.bluemoonhotel.com/
Another option is to do what many of us did the first year of the Spring Break, split a room with another CAP member. Its fun and it cuts your costs in half. The other benefit is you stay at the Loews which is an incredible property loaded with ammenities.

InactiveHey Professor,
As you know I may bring my two daughters with Patty and I to Miami this year. After checking rates at Loews it blows me away sinse we are combining Orlando vacation with this trip. I find it hard to pay out over $4,000 just to stay at Loews alone. I have been lokking online at different properties that are better value and have more suited accommodations for my family at a reasonable price. Example: http://www.alexanderhotel.com and $297.00 for a two bedroom suite verses $399.00 ocean front/balcony per room at Loews. Loews is going to cost me over $4,000.00 verses $1,485.00 for a two bedroom suite. Do you have any other suggestions that are ocean front suites. The one I listed above is a 4 star.February 28, 2005 at 1:35 am #662105
vladcizsolMemberAllan if the Alexander is a better fit for your budget then I recommend you book now before they fill up. It looks like a great hotel, the only problem I see is its about 5 or 6 miles north of South Beach, so you will have to have a rental car or figure on alot of taxi shuttling back and forth.
Are you sure you couldnt find anything in South Beach? Did you try the alternate hotels I posted above? They are all walking distance.

InactiveHey Lou,
It is the best property that is ocean front that is still close to South Beach at a reasonal price. A two bedroom suite is perfect for the 4 of us. If it was just Patty and I would go ahead and book Loews.February 28, 2005 at 12:34 pm #662116
vladcizsolMemberYeah two bedroom suites are going to be pricey in South Beach.
Allan the Beacon says they have two suites available, but I cant pull up prices online for those rooms. Their number is: 1-877-674-8200
The Blue Moon claims to have suites also: 1-800-724-1623

InactiveIf anyone needs a bunk mate for Miami, please PM me with your name and the dates you plan to stay. I can pair people up from there.
This should help singles absorb some of the cost and its more fun with a partner in crime by your side anyways!
