Now that I think about it … doesn’t UB/AP have in their T&Cs they can remove a player from your account if that player hasn’t played in 90 days?

This really reflects poorly on both parties. UB/AP for allowing such circumstance to happen … but also shame on rakebreak … this isn’t the average “fishing for players” email.

They make it very clear they will hold your hand and walk you all the way thru the process of getting re-tagged over to them.

I might view it differently if they weren’t so obvious that they are all about poaching players rather than finding them or they’d not be speaking so directly to players already signed up.

Thats why I have been opposing rakeback all this time.

It’s gotten more quiet and many rooms won’t allow it anymore, but it’s obviously still alive and kicking.

    Theft is what it is.

I guess AB/UB are using it to try to get some players to come back that left them after their debacles – not a good decision IMO. They are positioning themselves on the dark side of the coin supporting such outright theft.

Oh well, I used to like them. sad.gif

Before all of you go and overreact about this here is the original email from AP/UB.

If you have players that aren’t playing at AP/UB because they already signed up an account internally in the past and want rakeback as an incentive to return, then for ONE month only (October 2008), Chipleader is changing the rules so they can now come back and get rakeback.

All you have to do is present us with all your players that fulfill the following 2 requirements:
The player must be inactive with AP/UB for 3 months or more.
The player cannot be tagged to anyone else.

We will then at that time tag the players to your affiliate account so your players can begin to earn rakeback when they switch back to AP/UB.

While I have certainly been hard on AP/UB in the past they are in the right here. They are trying to convert inactive players through rakeback. They are going to big rakeback affiliates who they know get asked about rb on existing accounts all the time and telling them they can convert them now if they are inactive and signed up internally (not through an affiliate). What’s wrong with that? They are willing to take a pay cut to convert their own internal inactive players and no affiliate loses their players.

From reading Rakebreak’s email I assume they figure most players don’t know if they used an affiliate or not to sign up so they are going to get all the info and let Chipleader sort it out. Maybe they also just want the players to contact them that may not qualify so they can sell them on another room.

The player cannot be tagged to anyone else.

I didn’t see that part before. I take back my post.

    I respectfully disagree.

so they have the right to cut out their partner?

no, if that is their concern then let them install a in-site rake back system.

why should we as affs take the blunt of the blow?

you sign them up. they’re suppose to be yours for life.

bb1, what pokeraddict said is true and makes good business sense on the part of AP and UB, they’re not stealing anyones players, they’re just assigning untagged inactive players to affiliates who claim them

just recieved a similar email from raketherake.. There it says clearly that you can’t retag if you’re tracked to anyone else. But the last paragraph I’m liking less..
