Well, have to disagree with a lot of that – that stuff’s great for SEO, but SEO is often bad for the user. Here’s what I think:

    1. Users understand Home, but using a keyword instead of home confuses them.

    2. Click here is one of the most powerful call to actions you have, when used wisely. Just because you know what a link does and where it goes, don’t assume all your users are at the same level as understanding as you.

    3. More is not a keyword, but users know exactly what it does and where it will take them.

    4. If the image is a click here image, blind people will know what it means to with their Screen Readers thanks to the alt tag. Blind people use the web to and represent a massive market (about 10 million people in the USA I believe.) Always label your images as what they are. Better to not use a graphic for a link in the first place, go with text.

    5. Yes, give each page unique meta data relevant to that page, whatever people say. Just because it’s not a ranking factor now, doesn’t mean it won’t be in the future.

    6. Indeed – don’t waste valuable screen real estate on it.

    7. Commission rate is no guide to placing banners. I can place a banner with 100% commission on the top of my page, but if it’s not a brand your players like or covert with, it’s a waste of time. Place the banner that’s most likely to convert in the best place, whatever the rate.

    8. Not true – if you send them lots of quality players, they’ll offer you all sorts of goodies. If other affiliate programmes that you aren’t successful with know how successful you are with other programmes, they will often offer you more to try and get you on side. That said, asking for more never hurts, as long as you can justify it with the quality of your traffic.

    9. Keyword domains don’t necessarily bring you rankings – with the right content and optimisation, you can rank well for words not in your domain. Plenty of sites do it – it’s about relevance and authority, not just your domain name.

    10. Hell yeah, Google ups and downs like a bitch, but if your site is user friendly, has good relevant content and good background SEO, it never stays out too long. Days rather than a months.

That’s my take on your tips anyway, in my experience.

    Yes, very boring… I didn’t disagree with everything, just 7 of the 10. I agreed with 3. :)

Well, you keep doing it, how you handle your users is your business, but your advising other people to put their SEO above their users, and that’s not good. IMO.

You can’t get ‘users’ if google can’t find you

    Maybe you can’t.

For the rest of us though there’s plenty of other places to get users than other than Google, and if you want Google to like you in the long term, best to make your sites the best they can be for the users. They tell you that – build your sites for the users, not for the search engines.

Nope, genuine qualified free traffic that converts and pays the bills. However, if you want your sites removed for SPAM…

What’s funny is you link to your main page with “Bingo Codes” not “Home”

Yes, an SEO advised me to do it. I’m not happy about it… It’s a new design that I’m not sold on, my other sites don’t follow that. It’s made absolutely no difference to the ranking either way. Still as good as it was before I changed the design over. Then again, I’m not suggesting everyone else do the same as a tip.

I think the phrase “more then one way to skin a cat” is appropriate here.
