InactiveIf we were to provide links to our affiliates’ casino portal sites from a links page,
How do you justify who is a eligable affiliate? An affiliate who generates a certain income, anyone who is registered, or whoever has registered as an affiliate? Be careful of abuse.

InactiveStrictly from a search engine perspective, assuming you link to non-bad sites, everyone should benefit. You would be giving up some pagerank but you should be benefitting the sites that link to you, which could mean more traffic for them which could mean more referals to you.
Linking out is important because it helps tell the search engine what your site is about… but that also goes back to “don’t link to bad sites” because if you do that is sending a message that your site might be bad.
Your site is showing as a PR6 in the Google Directory now so that PR7 is probably going to go down next update, which maybe could change your mind about linking out since you will be on the cusp of 6/7 and linking out will pull you further away from 7.

Be careful of abuse.I would only consider doing this for affiliates who are already sending us real money players, or sites that are known to have good quality traffic. We do NOT want to become a “link farm.”
My idea was to link back to a FEW good sites, not everybody who comes along. I’m looking for a win-win situation, where we get more players and we help our affiliates get higher SE ranking, and therefore more traffic.
My real question is, will this really make much difference to the sites that we link to? Will they get a big boost in SE ranking, or not much at all?
If not, it’s probably not worth the risk to us getting knocked down for linking “violations” if Google doesn’t like the sites we are linking to for some reason.

InactiveIMHO, some of your affiliates will think twice before sending traffic to you and… indirect to other gambling sites/casinos. Second – you can lost some of yours players and some of potential players by sending them to an other casino trough a link page.

InactiveIf your worried about losing potential players you can always make the link nearly invisible to players (instead of having text link to it with an image that nobody will consider clicking). Don’t use invisible text or you’ll get banned. Most others will say this is deceptive but it works just like a text link and your running the same risk.
As for linking out – It’s hard to say if it will or will not help others. Some websites may jump 30 or 40 places, but still receive no traffic. Some might only jump 1 place and notice a big boost in rankings.
Even if they do not get higher rankings straight away, they might get another PR point which will in effect give them an opportunity to get other quality links.

InactiveAs I suspected, it sounds like there as many “cons” as “pros” to trading links with other gambling sites.
I guess we will just “stand pat” for now.
I’d like to help people out, but I don’t want to create more problems.

InactiveThere are a lot more pros in linking to quality gambling sites than cons.
There are a lot more cons linking to crap gambling sites than pros.
You have other non-seo issues dealing with affiliate favoritism that you have to deal with.

That pretty much sums up my feelings.
I would love to help out the quality sites, but I dont’ want to offend anybody, so it’s probably best to leave well enough alone.
I guess I’m taking the “chicken” way out and not doing anything at this point.
