Just wanted to bump up this thread… This week is a big one! Let the Olympic Games Begin this Friday July 27th.

Anyone have any insight? Are webmasters going to jump in and try to start promoting Olympics-themed player promos? Or… is it really not too interesting. Excited to hear what works and what doesn’t!

On the flip side… if you are interested in incorporating some Olympic-themed promotions, it’s not too late…

    Hey Jill!

From what I have heard, historically the Olympics have not been of great interest to sports gamblers and bookies. I think the issue is that very few people feel that they are “experts” on the athletes competing in these events and/or the events themselves. However, since the 2012 Olympics are being held in the UK which has a rich & regulated sports betting culture, it could be different this year. I am seeing promos around UK books for sure, for example, Bodog UK just released this promo:

GB winning athletes will give bettors a reason to cheer

It will be interesting to see what happens- will keep ya posted :)

Is it just me or are the olympics just stupid amymore? The old days of pride in countries is gone, the fact they were all amatures was a big plus as well. Now its all about life stories feel good crap. I dont know its just not cool like it was when I was a kid I guess. As for gamblers I dont see any intrest in the games at all as you really cant place spreads easily.

It hard to handicap sports and athletes we know virtually nothing about. I’ll be watching the swimming events, some track and field and some soccer, that’s about it. I like the winter games much better.

Funny, there are TONS of prop bets for the Olympics flying around UK bookmakers…if a British athlete will be photographed eating a Big Mac, if the athletes village in Olympic Park will run out of condoms, if the Olympics will go over budget…just read this on CalvinAyre.com. I think bookies are going the prop bet route to make some $$ from this event!

I heard that they ordered 150k condoms for these games. Hope Solo tweeted that there were people having sex between buildings in broad daylight.

Someone needs to explain to me why all these athletes are humping like rabbits.
