Google will weigh the link “positive” if it is a one way link. It looks at exchanges between two sites as manipulation. If your site has a link to it from a high PR relavant site, and you do not link back to it, it’s gold. When seting up a link exchange do it as non-reciprocal. Offer your high PR site to them and have them link their high PR site to your 2nd site .
This whole linking issue is becoming very confusing….
I’ve heard so many theories on the subject latelty that is makes me wonder if anyone has tested or applied any of these ideas to see what works and what doesnt. I’m starting to 2nd guess my approach and that has me worried.
Here’s some of the notions I’ve heard regarding backlinks:
* Backlinks don’t matter, you can get good positions without any
* Outbound links no longer hurt your PR, in fact it’s a good thing.
* Backlinks are best from index pages only
* Backlinks are better from links pages, not index pagesThe list goes on and on and the all these ideas come from credible sources.
Has anyone put up test sites recently to compare backlink theories. The results would be interesting I bet.
