Hopr your right, but im not sure. McCain is the only Republican candidate other then Ron Paul who will court the Independents. The Independents will call this election. Hillary and Obama will get the Indy vote over any other contender on the Repub ticket, except for McCain or Paul. In which case, according to most polls, will take the Indi’s

Someone will have to pay for the shit the republicans got us into:

    U.S. NATIONAL DEBT CLOCK
The Outstanding Public Debt as of 30 Jan 2008 at 08:21:29 PM GMT is:

    $9,205,954,752,469.12

The estimated population of the United States is 304,224,580
so each citizen’s share of this debt is $30,260.39.

The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$1.43 billion per day since September 29, 2006!

    http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/

The social security accounts just have a bunch of IOU in them. You young guys are going to have to pay the baby boomers for the rest of their lives now.

When Clinton left Office the debt was just getting under control and stopped raising so much. The second Bush killed us for many, many years to come.

We need someone between Ron Paul and Romney to be in office.. of course there isnt one but thats what we need, a true republican (dead breed anymore)

I have a hard time paying into a socialist government when I see people buying food with a food stamp card and walking out and getting into thier Lexus.

I have a hard time when the gov tells me what im allowed to spend money on

I have a real real hard time paying out over 40% in income taxes, then paying taxes everywhere I go.

I have a real real real hard time paying for the bickering between the parties that only have intrest in keeping in office.

All those things are exactly what you will continue to get if any more right wing religious extremists get into office.

We need someone who will get the budget under control, get the heck outta Iraq and restore the freedoms the last administration took away under the guise of “protecting us from terrorism”.

A handful of nutcases fly some planes into buildings and the entire nation is held hostage for years and years by fear mongers.

Shock and awe – applied to the US citizens. I bet the current administration and the DOJ are sitting and toasting BinLaden for making it possible for them to seize all the power from the people.

I’m not american and it’s always a sensitive issue, but I’d just like to point out that the cost of your army/intelligence > free healthcare.

So why aren’t you complaining about your taxes related to the billions and billions spent on new military toys?

hah, because they didn’t collect taxes for it.

They took the social security account everyone pays into and took all the money out and replaced it with IOUs (I owe you) plus they borrowed tons of money and doubled the national debt in a few years.

Any social services, in comparison, cost pennies.

I suppose the administration thinks that by the time the population realizes that they are left to pay the piper, they will be long out of office and retired in splendor.

I’m not American either, and this fact has always amazed me.

US military spending is roughly 48% of world military spending. 48 fucking percent!!!! I see slightly different figures for the total value from different sources.

It’s an absurd amount of money to spend trying to maintain status as the world super power, and/or spreading a particular idealogy, ‘US brand freedom’. My point is, that money could be better used to directly benefit Americans at home.

Not living in the US, I can’t say what social services really need attention.
Education, Healthcare, Social security are pretty good guesses.

Anyway I’ll stop there before getting carried away and ranting :)

Good luck getting a president who isn’t a warmongering nutjob in your next elections though :) :)

I hope whoever the democrat is, will be the one elected to office. Whether it’s Hillary or Obama, it will be a first in American history.

Currently, this country is more ****ed up and hated than ever before, and like Dom, I place the blame on the republicans.

I am a little hesitant to say that the next president should be Hillary. By the time Bush’s term is up, we will have had a Bush or a Clinton in office for the past 20 years. Do we really want another 4 or 8? Well, time will tell – but I think I’ll probably be happy with whichever democrat gets elected.

I for one would love another Clinton in the office, i think Bill was fantastic, i had a job when he was president!! and so what if he could have sex, atleast we had a president that didn’t look dead!

I really want Hillary, but i am a little afraid now that Edwards dropped out, because of this…

There are still many, many americans that are either prejudice against race, or sex, and with no other democrat to pick from now that Edwards dropped, i am afraid that all those extra votes, will either just disappear, or they will switch to republican canidates? Race and Sex prejudice is rediculous, but i am sorry to say, its alive and well in the good ole USA>

Bill was definitely the best president of the last 3. I would like to think that people in our country would be smart enough to realize how much the republicans have taken away from us, and vote democratic no matter who it is.

But then again, this is also the country where we actually have to make laws requiring people to wear helmets. :sarcasm:
