InactiveSo what’s the outcome?
What do the rest of us in other states do?
Integrity–has Washington given you the ‘option’ to get out before pursuing legal action or are they trying to make an example of you no matter what you do next?
How long until this happens in additonal states besides Washington?

InactiveJ. Todd.
Sent you the book ATLAS SHRUGGED by Ayn Rand. Enjoy it.
To everyone else in this business, you should read it. It was written 60+ years ago, but every part of it rings true today.
The book is all about BUSINESS and how BIG business actually works. How they think and how they use Lawmakers. It also shows how lawmakers use big business.
My prediction: J. Todd will emerge from this with a stronger company (legally), stronger financially, and be a stronger person. Lawmakers in WA are too far behind the times to understand how the net works.

InactiveThanks again for the book, Marc  and for the vote of confidence as well
And I thank the rest of you, too, for your continued interest and support in this issue…
Things are steady. Sites sale should be finalized this week, and the APCW will keep humming along. As I’ve mentioned, I have many potential options in the very near future. And, if I should chose to exercise and one of those options, you guys will be the very first to hear about it at CAP.

They just want to amend the law, which already allowed for telephone accounts for NY tracks to include the Internet and cell phones.
Also, Federal Law trumps state law. So even if NY decided to pass a law permitting Internet Gambling across the board, it would be shut down by federal law. We can argue semantics, but it’s already technically illegal to gamble online.
I would be interested to know how much money Ebay/Paypal is throwing around for “contributions” to get H.R. 4777 through the tunnels.
I am disgusted with Washington’s (state) stance. Since U.W. is one of the law schools on my list for next year, I have to make sure to move all my gambling items into a relatives name. :phone:

InactiveI AM STILL CONFUSED..
Was Integrity contacted by the law and told, “Shut down/sell your operation or you will be prosecuted”, thus giving him an option to comply
OR
Was he told–“We know what you have been doing, we’re coming after you whether you shut down, cease etc or not”, thus NOT giving him an option to comply?

InactiveA new article, and yes, the answer to your question is in there, voodoo.

InactiveGood article. Thanks for the link, Dom. Hopefully this law doesn’t last long.

InactiveUn-freekin’ believable ! It’s 1984 in 2006 ! Who the hell do these guys think they are. This is what worries me……a hasty decision by Congress to pass this bogus law (4777), and Bush, the buffoon, will sign it quickly….anything morale majority-like to make him recoup some popularity. Hopefully, there are enough smarts left in Congress to push for delay on all of this.
As far as Washington goes, they’ve really gotta be kidding……telling us what to read and not to read ??????????????

InactiveIt is so unbelievable. You wouldn’t think that would ever happen in America.
That’s why it is so important to continue to voice your concerns to your representatives, before it is too late.July 10, 2006 at 7:46 pm #698075Anonymous
InactiveYes, I got everyone I know to voice their opinion on http://www.congress.org, as you had pointed out.
The house worries me, but the Senate may stonewall this entire silly movement. Too much gambling interest, too much Wall Street invested in this sector, and too many personal rights at stake.
Meanwhile, I hope that these ridiculous decisions in Washington State will be challenged at the state and Federal Supreme Court levels. This type of violation of civil liberties needs to be challenged full-force and brought to the attention of Americans. I’m tired of government(federal and state) thinking they can do whatever they damn please. This Bush-like mentality needs to be eradicated !!! I hate to wish my life away, but I really wish I could fast-forward to 2008………….

GuestHi all,
Perhaps once the country gets a good taste of what this law (in Wash st) is like when applied to real-life situations resulting in free speech being censored to the point it is illegal to read or write anything relating to gambling online
maybe it will stiffen opposition rather than to encourage it … I mean in other states.
the press eats this no free speech stuff up with a spoon
