since 2010, gambling in russia is only allowed in one of 4 specialized areas, a bit like vegas in usa. all casinos in large cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg were meant to be closed down. quite a few still operate under the protection of local police officers. recently there have been a few high profile cases of such underground casinos being closed down.
presumably the closure of Goldfishka was the next step forward, as they are a high profile online casino in Russia with actual operations held inside the country. they are so well known that even several national TV channels interviewed them and used them as an example when doing a report on online gambling industry.
as for the real reasons, **** knows really
could be that they refused to pay protection money to someone, or that someone else wants their business, or a myriad of other reasons. potentially one of the reasons is enforcement of law, but being that its russia, the chances of this are pretty small…March 29, 2011 at 6:53 am #815459Anonymous
InactiveI guess the issue might have been that they were a Russian organisation taking Russian players?
