    Hi Guys,

I wanted to give you all a heads up on something that has taken place with our WSOP tournaments for PokerRewards.com. Below is the official press release on the matter, but the gist is that the guy won one of the tournaments but turns out he was in violation of the terms and conditions in a big way. Prima had locked his account and the end result is that we can’t send him to the WSOP. The guy doesn’t understand that he has broken the rules and is going around posting in the forums about the issue. I figure it’s better if you guys here it directly from me what really happened.

    PokerRewards Official Response.

Due to concerns of misrepresentation by a player in their World Series of Poker Satellite Tournament, Poker Rewards would like to submit the following response to any negative picture that has been conveyed as a result of disqualification by the winner of the last tournament held.

The Satellite Tournament in question took place on June 19th, 2005 at which time 139 players all competed for a chance to win a $12,000 package to the World Series of Poker. The buy in to this ‘Ten Seats in Ten Weeks’ Tournament was charged at $30 per player and the event was run across all of the Poker Rewards member sites to give all players an opportunity to take part in this years history making main event regardless of bankroll.

As with the pervious tournaments, contact with the winner was established within 2 hours of the tournament being completed in order to organize travel, accommodation and the $10,000 seat to the World Series of Poker.

At this time Poker Rewards conducted a brief security check of the winner to ensure that all terms and conditions have been followed and no foul play has taken place.

Unfortunately it was discovered that the winner of the Tournament on June 19th was in direct breach of the Poker Rewards Terms and Conditions with over 17 valid accounts within the network at Golden Tiger Poker, Poker Rewards and others on the Prima Poker network.

This is in direct conflict with the rules and terms and conditions as laid out below:

“You are only allowed one real active account. If you have more than one account or the name on the account doesn’t match the name on the credit card used to make deposits to the account then all winnings will be void.”

Prima Poker, Poker Rewards and all partner poker rooms take player security and integrity very seriously, and in an event like this we can not have either live ring games or tournaments compromised by fraudulent activities.

Because of the multiple accounts, and the ‘illegal’ actions taken by the winner of the event he has forfeited any and all claim to his seat at the main event. While Poker Rewards would never look to take a seat from a legitimate winner, in this case we stand by our terms of service.

As a follow up all players that took part in the tournament on June 19th, have had their full buy in refunded back to their poker accounts. This includes house fee.

Poker Rewards has looked at the possibility of re-hosting this tournament but with the close proximity of the World Series of Poker main event, the logistics of this would be impossible.

This is a very unfortunate event, but the decision has been made and we stand by our policies and terms and conditions of use as clearly outlined on the Poker Rewards website.

I would think affiliates will be in support of your decision – multiple accounts are not good for anyone.

Thank you for posting this and keeping us informed.

I would like a clarification of multiple accounts. I have accounts at at least 5 or 6 Prima poker rooms, but they all use the same player ID. Is this classified as multiple accounts or are multiple accounts different user names within the Prima network?

    Thanks.

You are allowed to have one account at each skin as far as I understand this.

Dom is right, you are allowed to have an account at any prima room you wish. The rule is that you have to use the same alias for each and every account. This ensures you only have one identitiy across the entire prima poker network.

    Hope that helps :)

    Ryan,
Is this something a player would know? I have to admit that it seems a bit hard to have ‘unknowingly’ opened 17 accounts but were these accounts all opened at different sites? Was there any attempt to disguise these accounts? Do they all have the same basic account and banking information?

Well … I’m not involved at the micro level in our fraud dept, but it is my opinion that a poker player would know the rules. They are a relatively sophisticated user and typically are well read on the T&C’s/rules especially if they are up to no good. My understanding is that this person had many different email addressess as well.

Players who have visited any of the larger player forums tend to be quite aware of this.

The sad part with poker is that there are some unscrupulous affiliates who, in an effort to steal players signed under other people, will promise them rake back or other rewards and get them to go against all T&Cs to sign up under them, even if a second account at the same place is needed.

I such a case, and with increasing frequency, these players are victims who have been talked into it by some unethical affiliate.

Of course, poker players can turn into bonus whores just like casino players, and these often use multiple sign ups to collect multiple bonuses.

That appears to have been the case here.

There are enough sign up and reload bonuses that a poker player doesn’t need to go against any T&C’s and open multiple accounts to always be playing for a bonus.
