InactiveDaddy Halbucks doesn’t joke about domains.

InactiveThanks.
I guess I didn’t know that people paid this kind of money and was curious if they do. Wow. I guess I am in the wrong biz.

For example, the annual registrar renewal fees alone for my 15,000 domains cost $100,000+. And, intellectual property in general can be contentious. The first few years were brutal.
Like most endeavors, there is a learning curve, and time required for maturation of investments.
But, yea, now I am doing OK.

InactiveThat’s great (that you are doing ok, that is)!
And, that is a lot of $$$ to hold onto your domains, but it looks like you know what you are doing.
Good luck with the domains and I hope you sell for the asking price.

InactiveHmmm, GoDaddy sells domains for 8.95 a year, same for renewals. That is one hell of a profit margin.
Just curious, have you ever sold a domain for over $1M.

1. The subject domain name wasn’t acquired for the cost of a domain registration fee. For a domain name of this caliber, those days ended back in 1998. To be specific, I acquired it from a private individual.
2. $1 million is a rare animal in this business. Few domains trade at that price or better. Although, I have no doubt that one day I will have done multiple trades in that range.

InactiveThe special pricing (above) has been discontinued. The price is now back at $1.75 million.
This is due in part to a US News & World Report article, dated May 23, 2005 and entitled “Against The Odds,” which contained the following information on p.48:
“Swedish-owned Pokerroom.com, the fifth largest online poker site, reported making $20 million on revenues of $60 million last year.”
We don’t usually underprice domains, but it may have been underpriced at our former special sale price.
Granted, the domain will need much development, but in the event that it is instrumental in helping the resulting site achieve a Top 6 rating, as we feel it can, we feel that 1 month’s earnings is fair compensation.

InactiveWsopDK.. The guy who offered you $4000 for guide2poker is probably trying to fool you into ordering a domain appraisal. The same happened to me with youseek.info (I didn’t buy appraisal), and it has happened to lots of people. No-one in their right mind would pay that much money for guide2poker.info which is a very mediocre domain name.
If I were you I would order an appraisal for poker.fo and poker.gl instead..
Ps. The plot of the domain appraisal spammers is a bit complicated, I read about it but can’t remember it now.

If the guy wants to offer you $4000, why would he want an appraisal? That does not make any sense. Just like what Envy said, this guy is a scammer. If you want to see how much you can get for poker.fo and poker.gl, put them for sale at http://www.sedo.com and see how much people offer you for them.

InactiveThe guy ask what my prices was for http://www.OnlinePokerRooms.info an http://www.Guide2Poker.info, i told him $4000 each.
He said ok i will buy Guide2Poker.info some invest if u can provide me with an appraisals.
He write in hes first mail ” i run a software development company. Selling & buying names isnot my main business. Just another way to invest free money and make some income.”
I have already http://www.poker.fo on sedo.com an their have not come any bid, i try put poker.gl on sedo.com to, but their was a problem because domain end with .gl.
I mean http://www.poker.gl is a monster domain, .gl is top level domain for Greenland, but gl can mean good luck also

InactiveIt’s an old scam, the guy will point you at some appraisal sites which he’s affiliated with.
Country code domain name’s aren’t worth a great deal unless they’re a major country (UK, Germany etc). A number of cc’s have gone down the drain in the past (the most prominent being .co). They also often are totaly incompetant (I lost poker.cd due to useless registrars).
Due to this, anyone paying big money for a cc is a moron, the risks are to high to base a buisiness on (I’m glad I lost poker.cd when I did instead of after a year of development)

Dunno, but I really wish you wouldn’t hijack my sales thread with your own offers.

As someone else may have pointed out, often when buyers ask for “appraisals” –it is a scam. The “buyers” have no real interest in your domains, they are just trying to get you to pay appraisals fees.
