ROAR owns pokerlistings.ca – I saw them show up on all my stats yesterday too, I’m assuming they were just checking out my sites (my Alexa value perhaps) to see if they should register a similar domain name and try to cash in on some of my traffic.
No big deal IMO.
Nah, if they were checking domains the referral wouldn’t be coming directly from the homepage of one of their parked domains.
They were in my stats too. They are probably using a bot that drops their site as a referrer as a rather unconventional method of advertising. It´s pretty shady but if there is nothing else to it then it´s probably not a threat.
This is web log spamming by a bot. In the hope that some of the sites web logs which are hit, are publically accessible and hence their referal link in your stats program gives them a backlink.
Annoying yes, damaging no. Unethical, definately.
