I have no idea on the answer to why they wouldn’t show up but it would be nice to know whether it has anything to do with buying links. If anyone has more information, please let CAP know.

    My guess is:

    d. this was triggered by a spam/paid link submission?

    Because

Also many poker blogs that had paid links to these sites vanished over night….

    and

    e. it is possible that a competitor could have caused something like this to happen with only offsite methods?

Of course, by filing paid links reports.

if it is paid links then many of the casinos /poker room are in big trouble lol.I dont even give myself a link on any websites i make any money on but i have spent $70,000 on content so far in 2008.Content will be king in the end in my opinion.I also check my own backlinks frequently becuase i believe google’s new ‘system’ is flawed and easy for people to pick off the competition if they put up links for them then report them to google.
This ‘manual ‘intervention from google staff is very scary stuff .But the sites mentions still have their pagerank and pages are in the cache so i wouldnt really get excited yet ,not a total ban .

It is very possible that google doesn’t bother updating the page rank when inflicting manual penalties.

The pages all show in google and they still have site linsk so i dont think it is as big of a deal not to rank for your own domain name when it is so general if you type the domain they all show still
