InactiveSo don’t jump to conclusions on this program – try reading the details and you might actually see how cool it appears to be.
Sorry, I don’t have time to read details on a new program, I go to the site, check it out and that’s what I see. Knowing they are/were a portal, it wasn’t a horrible assumption on my part.
So are you saying that if we promote them, our affiliate link will not point to that site with their banners? I’m totally lost as to why they have a PP and Pacific banner showing the way it is if it’s just an example……..if I sign up right now, will my affiliate url go to this page?
It says this about the popups:
Here you can enter up to four banners (234×60) linked with four urls respectively. These banners will appear on an exit console that pops up when surfers that are sent to any Poker.com landing page, and exit without signing up.
This allows you to get the most of your traffic, you can send your surfers back to your website, or a partners website or even to another affiliate program or product. Click Here for a Detailed Explanation
This is a great idea to say the least, but still, why the 234×60 affiliate linked banners there? Why not say “put your banner here” etc.

InactiveIts my understanding that poker.com is an actual poker room, with new software that you would be an affiliate for like any other poker room. As an added incentive for affiliates they simply allow you to setup exit consoles for your players to popup to whatevever site you choose……So they use party poker as an example but from what I read you can put any program there you would like…….basically if they don’t sign up through your link at poker.com you get a second chance to get that player (your traffic) to sign up through your code at another program….
“This allows you to get the most of your traffic, you can send your surfers back to your website, or a partners website or even to another affiliate program or product.”

InactiveEllening,
I mentioned in my post above that type in traffic to poker.com goes to a different page than affialite traffic – as an affiliate you get to choose your landing page and it does not carry any 3rd party advertising at all. And as gambleharder mentioned you can set your own exit traffic to go whereever you like – you can point it at your own affialite links or back to your own site.
Eyes yes i am dean formerly from adriches and no need to apologize.
I hope this clears things up

InactiveDean, hope I’m not being a bit thick about all this. Say we send a visitor and they sign up. That’s good. At a later date they they directly type in poker.com. Are they presented with the Party Poker etc banners? This means that poker.com has the opportunity to convert a player to another program (and I assume a benefit to poker.com) from some-one we sent in the first place. Nice way to get some traffic and avoid a cross-referral if my understanding is correct.

InactiveDean, thanks for explaining things, I do understand now what’s going on and it’s a great idea. BUT I also am concerned like Jarvi stated, if my player that is already signed up at poker.com under me, types in poker.com they get your affiliate banners which take away from me.
Being an AVID poker player, I can tell you that I go directly to the poker room’s site (different ones) several times a week, so this is a huge concern. I have every poker room saved in my favorites for tourney schedule changes, promotions, to check T&Cs on bonuses etc. etc.

Inactivejarvi and ellen,
that is a valid point and we have considered it , we have built significant player support pages and forums which we anticipate players will use . these pages are accessible through the client and will be the main referral pages for customer support issues.
these pages will also have all the tournment and news information. Our intention for running other advertisements on poker.com is just purely for our own type in traffic , we dont have any interest in sending our own players that have signed up through an affialite of to our competitors. but i understand what you are saying in fact i just spoke to my technical officer and what we will be doing come monday is setting it up so that ANY surfer that comes through your landing page as an affiliate who subsequently types in poker.com will only see the poker.com landing page that you have selected which does not carry any advertisements for 3rd parties.
hope that sorts your problem
we also give you the ability of emailing the players you have sent us if they become a dead player in our system so they can return to yoru website or any other of your choice.
cheers

InactiveObviously Dominique hasn’t seen this, so I’ll ask before she does :colgate:
What is your position on rakeback?
May 15, 2005 at 12:46 pm #665584Anonymous
InactiveYes, Dean, what about Rake -back? I don’t know if you have been reading and keeping up with things lately, but for the majority of poker affiliates here rake back is a deal breaker since it encourages players to jump from one affiliate to the other. To us that is theft.
So hopefully you wil disallow any rake back activities…

Inactivehi dom and damian
personally i am not a fan of rakeback , i think promoting things like that keep reminding the players we rake them i dont think it is a good thing and i dont think it is necessary. we actually ran our poker client with no bonusing at all in beta and it worked well for us. we have alot of newbie poker players coming through poker.com and the more hardened players like that.
so no we do not have rakeback.
cheers

InactiveThanks Dean, please post once this is taken care of and I’ll sign up.

InactiveThanks Dean, I’ll keep an eye out for what you come up with. Just seems you are trying to hedge your bets by having other advertising and I think it will do more harm than good. If you have a good product then you won’t need to worry about getting revenue from other poker programs.
Thanks for taking the comments on board and thinking about solutions. A refreshing change compared to some of the other programs I’m butting heads with at the moment.

InactiveI kinda liked the poker site, but now that pokermonger brought up the table issues I tend to agree.
I also brought up these same issues (the ads for other sites) with Chris, who emailed me re the program.
The freerolls fit well into my site and Im gonna run hard with it, its good to hear that CAP members have some input on issues, etc.
I didnt read how to add the redirects, but that will be a nice addition to the exit traffic I send them.
1) Remove all references to other poker sites.
2) pay me and all the other cap members lots of money
3)see #2
Cheers

InactiveSo I go to join and get presented with the following:
Note: Please enter all your contact and payment details below before proceeding throughout the webmaster area.
I do. Oops, looks like I missed something. Okay, submit changes… Dang, what’s wrong now? Submit changes… Grr… Submit edits… Ack!
Normally when you’re presented with a form as part of a signup process, completing it will actually take you to the next step. Unless it doesn’t like my tax ID in the SSN field or the format of my phone number in the payment details field, this form just seems to reload when I hit the update button. That’s annoying as hell…
Sorry, just venting.

InactiveHi Sparrow,
Let me know your username and I’ll sort it out for you. We’ve had one other person complain about the form and it was because of the SSN field format.
Cheers,
