So basically we’re down to Ethiopians being allowed to play at Stinky Fish? Is that it now? Well let’s all get ready for the emails from the casinos telling us about their new Ethiopian creatives…
Gawd…. I need another drink…
OH! OH! Forgot to mention the other day, but I am not allowed to log on to Gambling.com because of my geographical possition! :rollover: Gambling.com! No bets on the site, just gambling ads… I guess the DOJ wins the battle for the mind…

LOL  … good one about the Ethiopians.
I think the new definition for terrorist is:
Anyone that threatens the land based casinos from
expanding online.
:hehe:

InactiveWhat aggravates me the most is, we do have some PokerChamps links up on several of our sites, we could of kept advertising for them and sending them traffic (not that they convert that well to begin with but that’s not the point) for months without knowing. No one emailed us as a player or affiliate to let us know, that’s pretty low. Normally I check that account every 6 months and do a withdrawal, but for some reason I decided to check it much sooner or I would of never known.

Inactive– Betfair bought pokerchamps and just switched their poker room to the pokerchamps software from cryptologic
– Betfair operate legally in Australia, accepting sports and horseracing bets under license
– It’s illegal to accept Australians to play online poker, so seeing as Betfair has an Australian operation they have had to ban Australians from all the properties they own. Currently, similar to the US it’s not illegal for Aussies to play online, but it is illegal for anyone to accept their bets (or even advertise to them). This law has been in place since 2001, but most poker rooms ignore it as they have no interests physically in Australia.
In the long run Betfair/PokerChamps banning Aussies from poker will actually be a good thing as the Aussie arm of Betfair is half owned by Australia’s richest man, James Packer. The more Aussies that see that Betfair has poker, but they can’t play, the more likely it is that it will annoy them and pressure will build to regulate and allow online poker. If Packer is pushing for it, it’s a lot more likely to happen. Most Aussies are oblivious to the fact that online poker is banned as there’s only a couple of rooms that block them. As soon as the general public is more aware, there will be outrage and the law will be changed. Australian reps attended the recent summit in the UK, which is a good sign.

InactiveThat’s all good and fine, and Ausvegas and Lasseters are the same, but affiliates HAVE to be notified when countries are dropped.
If players are not routed correctly, it doesn’t just hurt affiliates, it hurts the entire industry.

InactiveAgreed Dom, I never defended them, but simply explained why they did it. It’s obvious to everyone here that they should tell their affiliates what’s going on at all times.

InactiveI had a player account as well, they didn’t notify me of either one being closed. I’m curious to see if any other Australians were shut out without notification as well. Kris, Dean and I are fully aware of those laws, but I do appreciate you filling us in on the rest
